I know if even the BBC are saying it is preachy, how bad is it? Also why would RTD think that was a good tactic for the first episode after 13 months?
Remember this bit from The Windsors coronation special this year?
"We don't need the Royal Family to unite us, what about the Beatles?"
"There's only so many times we can hear Paul McCartney say 'we were just a really tight knit band you know.'"
"Well what about Doctor Who?"
"Noooooo that's gone gay."
LMAO crude but true.

Let's just face it, there never was any chance of this being good. The only reasons this zombie of a show still exists are to massage the bloated egos of the Fitzroy narcissists and to serve as identitarian divide-and-conquer propaganda for the establishment. It isn't going to improve because it's made by people who hate you and rejoice in shitting on everything you hold dear. The sooner fans stop hoping against hope that it will get better and divest from it entirely, the sooner they'll be able to get back to enjoying however much of the old stuff they enjoy untainted by what it's become. Even if you still like early NuWho, it's long past time for you to pick your jumping-off point (i.e. Day of the Doctor or The Doctor Falls) and accept that it's over.

Trust me- I’m usually prone to masochism, but the only way I’ll watch this will be if the family show any interest and put it on. All the signs suggest that I’ll be getting absolutely nothing out of this. My Mum is far more welcoming of Tennant than I am, but she’s been bored shitless by NuWho for years and sounds noticeably more sceptical now than she might have done 15 years ago. And even if I end up sitting through this year’s specials in some form (which could happen- you might get an excoriating review from me in the process), I won’t be watching Gatwa’s era. There’s precisely nothing there to entice me, beyond maybe briefly seeing how he plays it (partly out of morbid curiosity).

Another thing (yes, another!) I find annoying about the Fab Four is what seems like revisionism by McCartney, now saying John broke them up - and all the media reporting it that way - when I always understood it was Paul who announced he was leaving that did it!

Another thing (yes, another!) I find annoying about the Fab Four is what seems like revisionism by McCartney, now saying John broke them up - and all the media reporting it that way - when I always understood it was Paul who announced he was leaving that did it! I think they came to a natural end to be honest. I must be the only fan who was happy they did. I much prefer their solo stuff in the early to mid 70s over their last few albums as the Beatles, all of which wouldn't have happened (no way would the rest of the Beatles have done Working Class Hero, and similarly a lot of George's stuff might have been seen as too experimental, and even Paul, John would have probably been too pretentious to do good old fashioned pop music that he did like Jet,) Abbey Road is a great album but I think that only came about because they knew they were finishing soon. The Beatles are kind of like Classic Who, Buffy/Angel, Showa Godzilla in terms of their quality. Start out great, but are maybe a bit rough around the edges, then go through their peak period with Sergeant Pepper, then a slow decline, with Let it Be being the Trial of A Time Lord/early 70s Godzilla movies, Buffy season 6/Angel season 4 and Abbey Road being the Sylvester McCoy, two 70s Mecha Godzilla and Angel season 5, the last little flourish which ironically many believe to be their greatest work. The person who has really been unfairly blamed for the break up surprisingly is Yoko. When you watch the Get Back docu all she does is read a magazine! There definitely was a lot of racism aimed at Yoko from the media over the years. I mean don't get me wrong I'm not white knighting for her completely as she was a nightmare in other ways LOL. Those screeching songs she did defy description and not in a good way. You know what's even worse? She is actually not a bad singer. I mean she's not Aretha Franklin, but believe it or not when she tries she's not bad. This christmas song she did in the 70s, Listen the Snow is Falling is actually really good and her voice suits it. The fact that she could sing yet STILL insisted on doing shit like this just makes it even more annoying. I remember watching that with my friend who said "she must have sucked John's cock hard that night to get away with that." He's not wrong.

The general consensus, which i think is only partially true, is that when they broke up John became too ideological and erraric, Paul became too mainstream and predictable, George was more interested in spirituality and Ringo just wanted to party.
But John wrote some of his best songs post-breakup, whatever Yoko's involvement, Paul wrote what I think is his finest moment (the Live and Let Die theme), George's 'All Things Must Pass' is as highly regarded as anything they did and even Ringo could put out the odd good single. A shame he helped Marc Bolan damage his career with his playing behaviour tho!
How did we even get onto the Beatles again anyway!? That damn band get everywhere lol

She has a nice tone (though a tad bit too reliant on reverb), but her phrasing is absolutely horrendous. You can even hear her catching for breath at some points. I don't know if that's because she's a second-language English speaker, but the way she phrases it is akin to how a child might, and I mean like an infant.

I have no interest or intention of engaging with any of the 60th hoopla (they even managed to f*ck up colourising The Daleks, which should have been a no-brainer but alas these people have no brains, and manage to turn that into a narcissistic episode in clueless c*ntiness). The only thing I want is the announcement for the next blu ray set but I suspect that'll be a while. God forbid we get anything that's decent in this anniversary celebration of Davies' undersized talent and oversized ego.

I personally find broken English quite charming. Then again I grew up on Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzanegger movies so maybe that's why. "Come on Cohagan GIVE THESE PEOPLE AIR!"

A shame he helped Marc Bolan damage his career with his playing behaviour tho! How did we even get onto the Beatles again anyway!? That damn band get everywhere lol It's because of the joke I posted from the Windsors LOL. I can't believe I'm the only one here who has seen that show? It's fantastic. Also Maxil you need to get on it for the babes (Pippa is the sexiest, though Meghan is the cutest.) Funny thing is Peter Davison was in the Coronation special where they went on about DW going gay. He wasn't in that scene, but I do wonder if the writers were inspired by him given his Fivish Doctors sequel got banned and he was chased off twitter by the SJWs and is good friends with Morgana Robinson who played Pippa (one of her best roles was as his horrible, horrible girlfriend in Toast of London. She said she absolutely loved that part LOL.) Again just to be clear I'm not saying Davison is homophobic and obviously it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, there is nothing wrong with either being gay, or gay entertainment (favourite band after the Beatles are Queen ffs, plus Amy herself was bisexual, something that is strangely overlooked in any biography about her.) And nothing wrong with having gay characters in DW. However RTD and the LGBT fans it must be said have monopolized it for themselves to some extent. Rewriting the character if NPH is to be believed to be gay, which is not good as the character is asexual. (Im consistent about this as I hated him getting off with women too!) Turning the Master and the Doctor into gay lovers and completely undermining their complex, fascinating feud, whilst in fandom LGBT fans I feel are given somewhat special treatment, provided they agree with the Fitzroy crowd of course. I even saw a woman say on twitter "why do straight people even watch DW." FFS DW was a show that straight and gay people could watch because it wasn't about sex and was about imagination and adventure! Again though this isn't something that only gay people do. Humans are tribal and cliquey and little tribes will always try and take over something for themselves. Moffat similarly created a little Scottish clique around the show, with Capaldi, Kazza, Michelle Gomze, the Silurian woman all being Scottish like him. RTD also created a Welsh clique too. Still definitely there is no denying that there is an LGBT clique around both the show and its fandom nowadays. Go on twitter and EVERY single DW fan has they/them in their profiles. Honestly the Windsors joke is spot on. Funny thing is the guy who plays Wills who sets up the joke is gay too, so even he is clearly having a bit of a laugh about it. To be fair though the joke is also taking the piss out of the idiotic little Englander types, who don't mind working 13 hour shifts in Dickensian call centres because they are too caught up about a trans woman on a beer can giving them a confusing erection LOL. Still whilst the joke is definitely on those types I think there is also a bit of a "he has a point here." (It's joke about the Beatles is spot on too. Paul McCartney does give the same answers to questions LOL and one of them is "we were just a really tight band." )
