I'm currently working my way through this six parter on i-player, and so far it's quite wild. Four parts in and while the plot advances a little, I was expecting them to have arrived in Atlantis by episode three, instead I'm on episode four and they're not even then yet! Will this be a rushed finale? There are things in it that feel like tricks you'd see in modern Who...the super-fast Bessie for example, then there's a cliffhanger where it looks like The Master's killed Yates and company along with the TARDIS only for a handwave resolution in the next par, brusies, cuts and scratches on them after an explosion and the TARDIS has plot armour. It's even 'woke' with the feminist researcher doing her darn best to put men in their place. I was floored when I realized some of the best bits of Logopolis were nicked wholesale from this story (TARDISes cohabiting), and the idea of the time-lock was used refenced here too. Hard to judge this story just yet, not sure there's much of a story at all, but I'm having a lot of fun with it, the pacing never slows and lots of exciting things happen

One of my very favourite Third Doctor serials - silly, colourful and a highlight of Season 9. Worth watching just for Ingrid Pitt and Roger Delgado's flirty scenes. Super '70s fun.

The worst Pertwee, and only Mindwarp competes as the worst classic who. It really is unwatchably awful.

It's very silly, inredibly dumb in places and one of the weakest Pertwee stories, but it's still entertainingly serviceable in places.
It's possibly one of the worst ever UNIT stories too.
I think I do prefer The Mutants, even if it has bloopy music and bad acting, purely on tone and intelligence of plot.

I watched the Mutants recently as well...very good, wish Geoffrey Palmer had lasted a little longer though

I finished the story yesterday.
...Is calling this a story too generous?
They finally reach Atlantis in part five, and it's the best paced/written of the bunch. Ingrid's flirting with The Master and presence as a woman with substantial power captivates the screen. Jo has a nose for trouble but has a lot of humorous lines, Delgado is deliciously manipulative too.
And then part six hits and everything is so tragically rushed. The minotaur fight is hilarious, The Master's plan falls apart all because a guard fatally...shoves the king? Ingrid's character does a mass 180 to feeling sorry for the king the whole time and turning on The Master.
There are positives to part six nevertheless, the battle of the TARDISES were a highlight of episode four and it is here again, with The Doctor trying to talk down The Master while joining him on the teetering ledge, threatening to take them both down the proverbial waterfall, and Delgado having the time of his life not falling for it, knowing the Doctor has'nt the fortitude to make good on his threat, and then Jo like a badass tries it herself, it's a brilliant climax, and with the benefit of more unfortunate hindsight, The Master's fate could have been sealed here and Delgado written out of the series if Kronos had it's way with him.
I actually don't mind the design of Kronos, despite looking like the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past From The Future, the concept fascinates me, and it's a shame it never came back in the modern series to highlight what other things it can be depending on who summons it.
So overall I'll give this a 5/10. A story that, when it does have direction, it has success, but takes an awfully long time getting there, and when it ceases being about TOMTIT and what it can do to time, and delves into big swings like TARDIES invading one another, time rams, Atlantean power plays, and giving Benton some brains, it's a real joy.
