That is funny. Brian Blessed and Colin Baker playing a game of "who can be the most hammy" throughout the story is not. Yes, Brian Blessed seems to think it so funny drawing the leading man into a c*nt-making contest. Foirtunately, no one else seems to be bothering to act either throughout the whole thing, otherwise I would have said this was completely unforgivable behaviour from Colin. Now throughout the Davison era and Season 22 we were used to one or two of the supporting actors hamming it up in each story, but never before were we treated to the whole damn cast including the leading man not bothering to act. How the hell was an accomplished writer like Philip Martin responsible for this outright butchered mess of a script? Season 23 is a huge fall in grace. WTF was Grade thinking of nobbling and neutering the programme this badly? Mysterious Planet is pretty damn poor too. It's fairly obvious within the first 10 minutes that something seriously wrong has affected the production team. The whole life is sucked out of it. The camera direction is at its all time stilted and worst ever and the omission of location film to tacky VR is a huge mistake and makes the whole thing look and feel like a cheap Roland Rat supplement. This is Robert Holmes in zombie mode, not even his previous turkeys were so devoid of life. Bar Remembrance of the Daleks, I don't think the programme ever really fully properly recovered afterwards from this outright internal kick in which it is painfully apparent it's recieved from what's occuring on screen, and you can sing the praises of Fenric and Ghostlight as much as you like to me, but for me personally the programme died with this season. What makes this especially tragic is it is immediately following on from a Season which I thought was one of the best from the JNT era, with a fresh new Doctor who was complex, had a returning ruthless streak and was intriguing. It was completely f*cking ruined.

The best thing about Mindwarp is Bryant. I'm not sure how anyone can be this ridiculously cute. @rob. I think the change to video was a smart move. Film is good and more cinematic, but as I've said before video doesn't tend to show the age of something. Remembrance could have been shot in the late 90s given how clear and unblemished the picture is. That said, it seems to look a bit off in the Baker era compared to McCoy. I'm not sure why. I also think the show DID recover and start producing proper classics again in 1988. Remembrance and Fenric are belters and Greatest Show is one of the most imaginative tales ever made. I don't agree with some fans that the show was devoid of any creativity in the later years of the program. The McCoy era is probably the most ambitious in terms of the storylines it presented. Even Season 24, whether you like it or not, felt fresh and visually superior to the previous season. I'd rather have bounty hunters and princesses in 1950s Wales than whatever brain swap rubbish Mindwarp was.

Bar Remembrance of the Daleks No, along with Remembrance of the Daleks. That story isn't some kind of standalone titan of the era. Silver Nemesis, Greatest Show, Curse of Fenric are all just as fantastic, well-paced and high in quality. And if you remove some kitsch elements, so are Paradise Towers, Happiness Patrol and Battlefield. I don't get where this separation of Remembrance comes from.

Some fans think the McCoy era wasn't creative? No doubt this would be the same set of giant intellects who think Davies is a genius.

I like Colin's Doctor, but not many of the actual stories really do it for me.
Good: Revelation of the Daleks Attack of the Cybermen
Average Vengeance on Varos Mark of the Rani Terror of the Vervoids The Two Doctors (Sorry Pat, you deserved better)
Poor Timelash The Mysterious Planet The Ultimate Foe
Unwatchable The Twin Dilemma Mindwarp

Trial drags it down in a big way. That said, Season 22 is consistently entertaining.

That was a stone cold classic. I do like the Two Doctors, but only for its scenery, some great scenes, the performances from Jacqueline Pearce (naturally) and the guy who played Shockeye, but it's plot is overall a mess. One of Holmes' worst scripts.

Sadly that's true.
"I want the knowledge of Time Travel from the Doctor. Actually, make him a consort for me. Na, f*ck it, let's just kill him" It's all over the place. It does get a pass from me because of childhood memories and the fact that it is outrageously fun in the right mood.

Yeah the big problem with Two Docs for me is that it's downright boring. Pat is always value for money, and I agree Pearce and Shockeye are ok, but I really struggle to get through it. The Sontarans are rubbish, and being in Spain adds absolutely zilch to the story. In fact it detracts from it, in the sense that it feels less like Who because of it.

Classics 1: Revelation of the Daleks 2: Vengeance on Varos 3: The Two Doctors
Good/Enjoyable 4: Attack of the Cybermen 5: Terror of the Vervoids 6: Mark of the Rani 7: Timelash (I do agree it's a mess on an objective level but subjectively I find it to be fun in a unintentionally comic manner)
Poor 8: The Ultimate Foe 9: The Twin Dilemma 10: The Mysterious Planet
Barrowman's Knob/f*cking Awful 11: Mindwarp

You're doing a huge disservice to Mindwarp there. For starters, I know that I'd much rather have the DVD/Blu-Ray cover placed on my shoulder...
