Please not befor answering that I know very very little about 8th era. So please avoid spoilers if you can.
Ok so I'm going to be giving the era shot and I just wanted to make shore I've got a few things right.
First, am I right in thinking the Eighth Doctor Novels are not directly tied to the New Adventures. It's a fresh start that doesn't require me to have that series first?
I ask because while I am aware they are not universal liked, I was not part of the fandom during the wilderness years and Eighth is probably the most unique Doctor in regards to how his expanded era developed. So I'd like to start from as close to the beginning as I can.
Besides the book series and big finish I know that their is at least one new adventures story, some radio works, comics, a few BBC stand alone audios and some shorts in novel collections.
Have I missed anything important out? Are the radio dramas still accessible? How hard are the short trips novels to get a hold of?
If you have any other advice please give it and thanks for any help.

There's no direct tie to the NAs though many of the same authors were involved and there were references and occasionally direct continuity links (the NA Happy Endings sees something quite major happen to the Brig, which is followed up on by the EDA The Shadows of Avalon. Likewise the Romana as President of Gallifrey stuff (which I loathe and despise and see as a complete betrayal of the character and the original production teams' intentions) is a part of the EDAs and was set up by the NAs.)
