Most of these do seem an improvement, but is it me or do the foreground details not look as sharp on the modern version?
I DO like the new troll doll and nestine effects though!

Not bad at all. I always thought the original was a bit of an eye sore despite being a good story generally.

I wonder if they'll ever re-do the effects for "Rose" and put a proper Nestines in it rather than that stoopid Lava God rubbish, and place some proper Autons in it rather than those idiotic Michael Jackson moonwalking Living Plastic Creatures?

Not bad at all. I always thought the original was a bit of an eye sore despite being a good story generally. Yeah, Holmes’ script is great, but the actual look of the story is easily its weakest attribute. Part of me wonders if season 8 would be generally appraised differently if the CSO was stronger and the prints for the episodes in better condition, because the stories themselves are largely very solid. The Blu-Ray restoration and CSO amendments for Terror of the Autons are pretty good too. Re-watched the full story again recently. It’s startling as to how superior the Delgado Master is when compared to the contemporary incarnations. |

The image quality isn’t *massively* improved for some of the stories given that the prints are in shit condition as it is, but the optional new additions are largely rather good. I expect the season 24 set will be more intensely packed with extras, mind you. Not as many new ones for this release as for some of the previous ones based on the discs I’ve been through thus far. |
