A place for the scariest stories that will make members think twice about switching the light off at night.
Here's a disturbing one:
In the early 1800s, in Wales, there were two keepers at a lighthouse, Howell and Griffith. Neither got on with each other and after one of them fell ill and suffered for weeks on end (without any help apart from the other man) he succumbed and died. Howell had a problem, though. He couldn't dispose of the dead body in the sea because it would automatically make him suspect to others who would assume that he had in fact killed Griffith. He decided to build a coffin for the dead body and tied it to an exterior shelf. Relentless winds tore the coffin apart however and the dead man's arm, caught in the wind, appeared to wave, as if beckoning Howell from beyond the dead. It's unknown how long Howell stayed on at the lighthouse with only a waving corpse for company, but when he did eventually leave he was said to have changed completely to those that had known him. Imagine going to sleep and waking up to find a dead man's hand waving at you from outside for weeks and possibly even months with no help and no way of escape. This is a true story too which I believe inspired a movie recently.

In 1997 Vladimir Markov, a poacher in the Amur region of Russia, shot an Amur (Siberian) Tiger and stole some of it's kill. Rather then just running off into the wilderness, the Tiger had other ideas. It back tracked Markov's sent to his cabin and began systematic destruction of everything inside. Not finding the cause of it's pain with, the Tiger went outside and waited. It waited between 12 to 48 hours for Markov to return.
The Amur tiger can weigh over 500 pounds and can be more than 10 feet long nose to tail. They have a bite that is 1,000 pounds of force per square inch, a swipe that can penetrate thick sheet metal, run up to 60 miles per hour, jump over 25 feet. It is a perfect mammalian predator.
And thats what Markov found waiting for him when he returned home, with his bullet still in it's hide and revenge on it's mind.
There wasn't much left of Markov when they found him.

The story of Hisashi Ouchi is pretty gnarly if you want to look it up. It's pretty well-documented so should be easy to find on YouTube.
There was also a case either in or near Newcastle a few years back where a man was brutally murdered by the other members of a cult that they formed together. I remember that being quite shocking.
Not to mention those cartel videos that found their way onto a few gore sites; "Funkytown" being the most ubiquitous by far, as well as another where they force a child to watch his dad being beheaded.
These are just a few I remember from my edgy tweenage phase, and it's been years since I've indulged in this rabbithole. I find the true crime fascination a bit creepy, honestly.

It can become very depressing if you watch too much of it.

"Hisashi Ouchi" That was a horrible read. Makes you think twice about complaining about mild pains because they're nothing compared to what he went through for two and a bit months.

The Cecil Hotel.
The Night Stalker stayed there while he was on his crime spree in the 80s. There have also been countless suicides at the hotel over the years and the suspicious death of Elisa Lam, who ended in a water tank. A woman was raped and murdered there in the 1960s as well. Makes Paradise Towers look like a haven in comparison!

I'm not shitting you, my College English teacher once had a drink with Fred West. He referred to him as a tosser, but remarked that at the time he came across like a regular guy.

The case of Brad and Debbie is frightening. They were part of a group of five, two more men and a woman whose boat sunk in the middle of the ocean and forced to escape on a life boat. Unfortunately one of the women cut her leg on metal just as they made it to the raft. She was slowly poisoned over the next few days. One of the men tried to swim for it, but was swarmed by a pack of Sharks and ripped to pieces. Another tried drinking salt water and hallucinated to the point where he simply walked off the boat, thinking he was going to the pub. The Sharks who had been following them, got him too.
The woman who was poisoned meanwhile eventually after suffering for days, went insane and tried to kill Brad and Debbie, before she became too weak after which she died in agony and her corpse was finally thrown overboard for the Sharks.
Brad and Debbie were later rescued by a passing Russian ship.

The Dunblane Massacre.
One of the saddest and most horrific things to ever happen in the UK. Not only to murder innocent people, but the fact that most of the victim were young children. I feel for the survivors too because they're forever going to be haunted by that day. When I went to primary school we had a lot of locked doors which could only be opened via a code.
