I'm blu ray for the majority of the films that I buy. I don't have the money for a 4K TV or player and I'm satisfied with Blu ray quality anyway. I do occasionally buy DVDs for a film that's not been released on Blu ray or I don't see the Blu ray as a major improvement in terms of quality.

I honestly just have a massive hard-drive where I keep my films all ordered and neat

I don't know how people manage that - it must take fecking ages to archive them!
I'm DVD and Blu ray. Blu ray is still excellent, and I've actually heard bad things about a number of 4K releases (like Gremlins). I don't have a 4K player or TV. I have two 4K releases - the original Black Christmas and Halloween IV - for the Blu ray with the 4K scans included, and only then because the original Blu ray releases were flawed (sound issues in both cases).
Many things, esp TV shows, do not and probably never will be on Blu ray however, so DVD is also still very good.

I don't know how people manage that - it must take fecking ages to archive them! The benefit is the abundance of rare or out-of-circulation shows/films that you can easily just download and save for any time.

I know that, but if it's anything like when I've attempted it, it'd take years!

Some 4K Titles barely look any better than the Blu ray. Some of the Rocky sequels look pretty poor in 4K actually. They weren't great looking on Blu ray either (which is down to MGM's transfers rather than the cinematography itself) but at least getting the six films on that format is about £30 cheaper than getting just the first four on 4K with 5% improved picture.
