Curious to hear what you all thought of NuWho's first foray.

I thought it was okay. Nothing special and already over hyped, but I understood it was best to have a simple, straight forward adventure to reintroduce the concept.
It was the second week that put me off, with the death of the time lords and the silliness of Cassandra. The Unquiet dead gave me hope again, only to be squashed by farting aliens. To be honest the rest of series 1 would be a similar back and forth LOL.

I liked it at the time, but my family completely forgot about it the next week. I put on The End of the World and lost interest fairly quickly. I caught a bit of Parting of the Ways too, but it was too late for me to get invested in it. It wasn't until The Christmas Invasion that I took proper notice of it and became a fan.

I don't recall the Graham Norton blunder either. Maybe they should have made it go on for the rest of the episode to drown out the awful line delivery by Eccleston.

I confess I really enjoyed it, but then I'd never watched the show proper before so I think my ignorance can be forgiven.

'Anti Plastic' A very flat, dull and unimaginative introduction to a new Doctor and companion. It's like an over-simplified, sanitized and cut-down version of Spearhead From Space but without the cool characters, '70s charm or cleverness. The Timelord mixes with the British working class and dresses according, while the rather limp Auton invasion is dealt with quickly and far too easily. Fortunately, this unremarkable Doctor didn't last very long. Sci Fi for Soap addicts.

I remember thinking it was just fine. I mainly enjoyed it for the interactions between Eccleston and Piper. They had a really good dynamic.

Loved it on first viewing, though in retrospect it was just the high of the show coming back and it's aged very badly (like the era in general). It was the following week I had serious misgivings about, though to be fair at the time I was mostly happy with New Who until series 2, where it really started going off the rails.

I love Cassandra, but more as an "othering" aspect than as an actual character to be fair. There are parts of "Rose" that are way goofier than "End of the World" honestly. P-p-p-pizzaaaaaa!!!
