Grant Morrison's beliefs are on a par with his stories. Half baked, pretentious and full of holes LOL. If we are sent back to grow why wipe our memories? I could be a womanizer guy who treats women badly, cheats on them, runs a creepy pick up channel where I go on about women hitting the wall, and then realizes why I'm an asshole as an old man and then becomes a Peter Cushing style gentleman for my last twenty years and makes amends. However when I die and are reborn it could be in a misogynistic third world culture like Saudi Arabia where I murder my sister in an honor killing and never achieve redemption.
The worst afterlife I've ever seen however comes from another sci fi writer, I believe it was the guy who wrote the Martian. Andy Weir? He came up with an afterlife where we are all reborn as each other throughout time. It's called The Egg. He intended it to be hopeful, but it's the worst hell you can imagine! We'll all be forced to live out the lives of people who were killed horribly, those who were flayed alive in the middle ages, those who are gang raped by terrorists and beheaded, those killed in concentration camps, and to top it all off we'll be every evil person in history too. If this is Andy Weir's idea of a positive afterlife, I shudder to think what his idea of hell would look like.
I'll share my beliefs now since this is private and therefore only you guys will think I'm insane LOL. Remember these aren't my beliefs per se, they are what I hope.
It is believed that there are an infinite number of universes, and that some of them have different rules to ours. (This isn't just sci fi there are scientific theories that state this.)
With this in mind it is highly possible that if there are an infinite number of universes, there is one where an advanced race of aliens are able to reach a type 5 civilization.
Basically it goes like this.
Type 1, harness all the energy in your planet (we haven't reached this stage.)
Type 2, harness all the energy in your sun.
Type 3, harness all the energy in your solar system.
Type 4, harness all the energy in your universe
Type 5, harness the energy in other universes.
Now there are people who believe a type 3 is as high as you can go and that is probably true in our universe given the sheer vastness of it. However again if it's another universe with different laws, whose to say what is possible. These aliens who would most likely be benevolent if they have reached that stage of advancement, also in all of eternity it's likely that at least one race would be benevolent anyway. These aliens would then create a special kind of universe or dimension that surrounds theirs and acts as an afterlife, absorbing the minds of all those who died, on the point of death, without changing time (as these aliens can control the universe, then they can also control time itself.)
This dimension the aliens created which we will call the Nebulous for practicality sake then creates an infinite amount of copies of itself which latch themselves around all universes in eternity and perform the same function. Of course it may take it some time to do so due to the different natures of other universes, but as it can travel backwards in time and remains in contact with other universes then it can adapt itself to any other reality of any kind and each nebulous travels backwards to the beginning of each universe.
Now as to how the Nebulous treats minds and souls that travel into it, well it goes like this.
First you get a recap of your life. You feel all the joy you brought to others, and all the misery you dished out. It obviously judges people by the standards of the time too, and it doesn't judge animals this way as they are creatures who rely on instinct. Animals are just simply sent onto the next stage, it's only sentient creatures that get judged this way. Still if you inflicted needless harm on people regardless of your time and society, then it shows why that is wrong, and you then become desperate to make up for it. Even the wickedest human or life form becomes desperate to make up for their sins after feeling the effects of them up close and seeing the full devastation they inflicted.
The good people, or those who did the least amount of harms minds are then sent into a being within then nebulous, that's purpose is to create other Nebulous' and universes inside each Nebulous. Inside that being is a kind of heaven that's tailored to all the different sentient life forms, though everyone is separate by a generation into different sections, they can cross over into different sections and we get to meet up with our loved ones and learn the secrets of existence for a couple of years or what this is comparable to in all sentient species life span. Time moves differently inside this being and so what is only a couple of years inside that being, sees the end of our original universe outside it. We are then sent back out into the Nebulous where the being creates a new simulated universe for us to be reborn in. (The being isn't conscious, it is simply an automated creature that follows a programming.)
However before the simulated universe is created, the being allows us to choose what our next life will be. Any unfulfilled dreams, any mistakes we want to rectify, people we mistreated, any great pieces of art that were almost made in the original universe, like alternate versions of DW LOL or unmade music by great singers who died too young, we'll get to see them in this next life or the one after that.
We are reborn in the simulated universe with no memory of our previous life, so everything is fresh for us, and after we die in that reality, then are minds are sent back into the nebulous, where we get memories of our previous lives back and then get sent back into the being to be with our loved ones again for a few years and then after the simulated universe dies, we get sent back into the nebulous to choose our next lives in a new simulated universe and are reborn in them with no memory of any previous life, and on and on the cycle repeats.
Now as to the rules within these simulated universes well I see it like this.
Actually there are several simulated universes at a time in each cycle. Not everyone can be reborn in the one. For instance suppose a celebrity died young, and my greatest accomplishment as an actor is playing them in a film about their life? Obviously I'd be reborn in a different universe to one where they'd live out a full happy, fulfilled life. Similarly there are some concessions made in each simulated universe in certain cycles. For instance suppose I also wanted to meet the celebrity I played as I was a huge fan, well in one I'd get to meet them, but obviously in that one I wouldn't play them or if I did it would be under different circumstances and then in the next I would play them like I did in the original, whilst they were off in another simulated universe.
Meanwhile historical events that helped shape certain generations experiences and identities will still have happened in some simulated realities in certain cycles, but the people who were killed in them, will be replaced by non playable characters in those, illusions with no consciousness whatsoever (same for the dead celebrity I played) that we think are real, whilst the real versions are living out their full potential in another world with a different history, and sometimes random people may be reborn in those different universes in another cycle and get to experience a different history, but one that is still suited to them. Similarly prejudices will exist in past times only in NPC communities, so we will know about it, but it will never be experienced by real people.
Of course you are always reborn with your immediate loved ones and family and there is always a sizable population in each simulated universe of several billion people regardless so you're not alone. Also the bare minimum for all beings in each simulated universe it that they live a happy life, get to fulfill at least some of their dreams and wishes (perhaps a different one in each cycle and as long as they don't harm others) and you live a full lifespan by the standards of your race and era and your death is a painless heart attack. If you were someone who never had kids in the original meanwhile, but wanted them then you will in this one and they will be every bit as real and as conscious as you and will live full healthy lives and be good people. Similarly if you never married but wanted too then you will. (There will be many new people created in the first couple of simulated universes who will be reborn in all after that, to serve as our relatives, children, wives, husbands we may never had in the first life. Also when making you meet your spouse, the simulated universe won't simply brainwash someone to be in love with you as well that would be rape! It will look at which of the new people created you are compatible with and then ensure you meet by chance and influence YOU unconsciously to be perfect for them leading to your natural romance.)
Meanwhile if your father was abusive then you will not be his child in the next life if you don't want to. If you want to give him a chance after he felt the pain he dished out and is seeking redemption then you can, though your other siblings and his wife would have to agree. Meanwhile the bad people from the first universe will be reborn in the simulated ones, but they won't get to choose their next life. It won't be a horrible one however, and they will be motivated to do good, unconsciously by their past misdeeds. All potential good that was in them before, had things been different will be utilized this time and allow them to be good people. They will also do nice things for their victims in every single life at some point. Once they die this time, then they will only get memories of this better life in the Nebulous, and they will go and live in a different being from their victims, and will get to choose their lives every time after that.
Of course there are other complications, like suppose you're someone whose first wife or husband dies young and you remarry and love your second spouse just as much. Well that would be up to all of your to choose, IE you marry one in one life, then the other in the next and so on. No one has to die young in any. Similarly if you had a bad marriage in the first one that produced a child, well that's up to you and your family how to choose that, with all of you being conscious of each others feelings. You can choose to have the first marriage that still ends but on better terms for the sake of the child's childhood.
Meanwhile animals are simply sent to live in each simulated universe. They are never hunted, or die in any horrible ways. It is simply of a heart attack too after living out the average life span, and there are plenty of NPC animals for the carnivores to hunt and they all experience happiness as best they can with easy lives.
History overall reaches a better conclusion in each simulated universe. Humanity eventually reaches a stage where it goes out into the universe and meets up with other advanced beings (if they exist) who all develop at the same time. (Unless humanity was created by an advanced alien. Not saying I believe that, I'm just open to other possibilities LOL.)
For a species that's life is nothing but pain, well there has to be a lot of adjustment, but the goal of the Nebulous is to preserve every life form as much as it can and keep its defining qualities. Finally for those who lived good lives in the original universe and were good people, they can also choose to relive that first life each time in a simulated copy of it, before going on to live out one of the better ones. (Obviously those who died horribly or were evil will never live out the first one and will be replaced with NPCs who again I can't stress enough the NPCs have 0 consciousness, are not alive, they are simply illusions, less real than even characters in a video game.)
The nebulous also protects other realities from each other. For instance suppose there was a universe where a Davros style supervillain creates a reality bomb, then the nebulous will stop that from happening. Other than that however it never interferes as it believes that ultimate power is evil, and no one should have complete control. However at the same time the Nebulous allows other life forms to live out their full potential, and do so on their own terms.
Finally the nebulous also allows those who could have been born to be born too. It creates several copies of itself with a simulated universe in each one, where people who could have been born but weren't get to live out their lives, with copies of us if need be who are real. As they were never born in our world however, then the Nebulous does get to choose their lives and they live out a good one in the first life, before being able to choose it for the next one and so on, in the same process.
As to how the universe was created, well perhaps the same aliens who created the nebulous, went backwards in time and created the first universe? Or alternatively, maybe in the nothingness from which all universes emerge, that anything is possible. People say you can't get nothing from something and that is true, but at the same time when you have nothing, there are no rules, so anything can happen so maybe in the void, every type of universe that could exist, comes into existence constantly and as the void is infinite there is room for them all, meaning that how our universe came into being with this in mind isn't important. Maybe it was just a weird process that we can't understand, but that was possible in the void where anything goes?
Now I'm aware there probably are still some plot holes in mine, but overall I think it is the best model of the afterlife for me as it overcomes the problems I had with the others.
1/ Heaven is a nice idea, but it would get boring after the first couple of thousand years. Hell meanwhile is never justified. Even the most evil human in all of creation wouldn't deserve an eternity of torture. The fact that we don't condemn our own criminals to being actively tortured for just a life time shows how barbaric we actually think it is, and I doubt that we would have a better moral code than the almighty.
2/ The idea of no after life that Richard Dawkins (who I can't stand) and other reddit, edgelord atheists make out is so beautiful and anyone who disagrees is a coward is horrifying and a waste. I can understand someone like Dicky Dawkins not being scared of death as he has had a rich life, but to someone whose child died young? Someone who was disabled their entire life and in tremendous pain who lives in a conservative Britain? Someone living in poverty? Someone born to an abusive family? Also again think of the waste of so many great people who died young, so many whose full potential would never be realised. Dawkins bullshit reflects his narcissistic world view. He's an intellectual lightweight.
Yeah you're right Dicky Dawkins, why would you want more than this? Let me go downstairs and tell the local woman whose daughter was killed in an accident aged 17 about how beautiful the world is and how stupid she is to hope to want to see her daughter again. I'm sure she has exactly the same attitude as you, a rich, pompous, privileged git whose never done a days turn in your life. (PS I first knew he was an intellectual lightweight when I saw him praising Hillary Clinton as a huge hero, whilst sneering at Trump supporters for being stupid. Yeah Hillary is a real hero Dicky Dawkins, PS hilariously for all your making a career out of being anti religious, Hillary helped to destroy a SECULAR Muslim country that could have implemented real change in the Islamic world and laughed with sadistic glee like the Joker or Missy over Gaddaffi the man who made it a secular country being tortured to death by having a rifle shoved up his arse. Of course now Dawkins has also jumped into the trans debate with the radical position that JK Rowling is a hero. Dawkins is an utter tosser. The stupid person's idea of a clever man.)
3/ Reincarnation is horrifying as again you have no control over it, and like I said I could be reborn as a psycho rapist in another life. Of course some people will say that you choose your next life, but even then that's arguably a more disgusting idea. That means people suffering disablities, who are born in shit hole countries, or to abusive families chose to live those lives. Why wouldn't all of us choose to be a millionaires daughter or son? Why the f*ck would anyone choose to live in these periods of history?
listverse.com/2019/10/24/top-10-worst-times-to-be-alive-in-history/Also don't even get me started on the idea that bad things that happen to us now are because we are being punished for a previous life. To start with that is a horrible idea that can be used to justify the most obscene horrors and second of all it's a f*cked up justice system. If all your memories are erased and your personality is changed, then the you of today doesn't deserve to be punished for the past version.
4/ The idea of eternal return where the universe just repeats and we are reborn again that way is again a very narcissistic view as sure that would be fine for someone like me, whose had a fairly easy life, bouts of depression aside. However again for people born in third world countries, people born to abusive parents, it's f*cking horrifying that they will essentially be forced to suffer for all eternity.
5/ The Egg, well I don't have to explain why this one's bad do I LOL. Not only will I and you endure all the suffering there has ever been, but we are also essentially alone too. You will never reunited with your loved ones because you are them, and any love you have for someone is just an ego trip.
Also my afterlife model doesn't impact on your life in this world as much. It can serve as a comfort for when losing someone and motivate you to always be empathetic of others, but other than that there are no laws. The only other way it might impact you is to think that it might be quite cool to imagine the cool bits of art and entertainment you'll see in the different versions too.
Whilst my one may not be perfect I think it's the best hope there is. Of course that's all it is sadly is just a hope. There are perhaps some logical arguments for it, like that in an infinite multiverse it is possible, and that without it, then there logically would have been a Davros type villain who would have destroyed our reality by now. Still sadly no evidence as of yet.
The only logical argument against it I can see is that obviously none of us are living in the perfect life we chose. This is clearly the first version of our lives, which does seem unlikely given how many we will have in our model. However at the same time, if you go by Dicky Dawkins and the scientific communities view that our lives are the only ones we have, then actually there is as much of a chance of mine LOL.
Whatever the case I hope mine is true and whilst I have no proof it can be a comfort to me in dark times, particularly these last few weeks.
