Jesus Christ! When cancelling dozens of films and tv shows that have a following (even utter shit like Doom Patrol.) You better make sure that your new continuity that is designed to replace it is great.
Instead we get this.
An Amanda Waller spin off. Seriously? Who cares about Amanda Waller? Also I am fed up of spin off's about unmarketable characters that hardly anybody knows.
A Themyscera spin off. This is Wonder Woman's home island that is populated by women. It sounds f*cking awful. Described as a female led game of thrones. This has flop written all over it. The fact that it's about a society of only women sounds sure to piss off everyone on the culture wars side. Critical Drinkers mob will be on it, because it will be anti men (as it's about why these women cut out men from their society.) Yet it will also piss off the Claudia Boleyn's and rightfully so as it will have to show all the problems with a female dominated society, which will obviously have to be problems with women, if no men are around. The advert already looks like it will be sexist this way, describing how these women use mind games against each other LOL.
A Batman Brave and the Bold film. Now at first this sounded like it could be a great idea for a film, as Brave and the Bold comics were Batman teaming up with another superhero. I'd love to see that on the big screen and it would help differeniate it from Reeve's Batman series and be a bit more fun. However it's going to be another batman thing without batman. IE focusing on Damian Wayne's Batman rather than Bruce's and it is based on Grant Morrison's run.
He is also doing yet another Superman origin film and a Supergirl movie that is described as "edgy and f*cked up."
Honestly this just has disaster written all over it. I could be wrong, but seriously why can't DC get it together?
I admit I really don't like James Gunn as a person after looking at his tweets, but even without that I think these look terrible and was genuinely disappointed to see DC after getting a clean slate f*cking everything up again.
What is it with DC and Doctor Who? Both have potential to be the absolute best. DC's characters on average are far better than Marvel, and DW has the best premise, villains, and most unique lead character of any genre tv show, yet both have fumbled the bag so badly in the 2010's and 2020's I am starting to doubt if their reputation will ever improve.

Yep, seems like a total disaster, at least financially. I just cannot foresee people actually giving a shit about Marvel/DC films for the next decade or so. Imo the rightful stopping point was at Endgame and what we're seeing now are the final sputterings of the engine once the fuel's run out. And you're totally right about the prospective outcomes of these films—total flops. I just don't get it. These people aren't stupid. Henry Cavill + half-decent writing = profit. Not spinoffs about woke characters no one's even heard of (looking at you Batwoman, Echo, Naomi, Ironheart, et al.) This same approach is utterly killing Star Wars, to the point that barely anyone could be arsed to give a shit about an Obi-Wan series. I've just accepted at this point that Hollywood is dead. Most of the films I watch now are arthouse/independent stuff. It's so much more refreshing honestly.

Honestly the only thing Wonder Woman had going for it for most was Gal Gadot. I agree that Hollyweird is collapsing and it can't come soon enough. The only movies I enjoyed last year were the Gina Carano western that was a proper, old school, gritty Spaghetti western and JW Dominion because, well Dinosaurs LOL. The Batman I thought was pretentious, overwrought, po faced bullshit, and the other marvel shit I just couldn't be arsed with.

I didn't see Terror on the Prairie because a ton of bad reviews put me off. I guess I have to keep in mind that that sort of film will genuinely be brigaded by review-bombers just because it's the Daily Wire. Maybe I should check it out, though I'm not the biggest Western fan to begin with.

From what I saw it got mostly positive reviews, even on wikipedia they mention that. If you're not a western fan it's maybe not for you. I do like a lot of the Spaghetti westerns and films like the Great Silence which again it reminded me of. That and Gina's other film, Scorched Earth are the two closest things I've seen to Spaghetti westerns in the last few years. Terror on the Prairie is a bit slow at first, but when it gets going it really gets going. I'd say maybe give it a try if you can, as it does have some great action scenes and moments.

Not a fan of this slate, but in fairness, Iron Man and Aquaman were nobodies until they got good actors and scripts to make them shine. So it's not beyond the realms of fantasy.
Speaking strictly as a superhero layman whose only real interest is in Smallville and the 80s Batman films

Speaking strictly as a superhero layman whose only real interest is in Smallville and the 80s Batman films If you liked both of them I'd recommend Gotham. It's basically those two things combined and it's an absolute hoot too. I agree meanwhile that you can make a great movie out of an obscure character, but Themyscera to me was always a bad idea to focus on. It's let's be honest, shit. War of the sexes storyline's are always the absolute worst. (As a Blake's 7 fan you'll know Power is by far the most cringe inducing episode of B7 ever made LOL.) To me the Amazon island is always something that anyone making a Wonder Woman story wants to skip over as fast as they can because it is so cheesy. It's also something that kind of defeats itself as it is supposed to be an island where women don't need men and is therefore empowering to female readers, but the women in question are also big breasted long legged sex goddesses LOL, with the only men who go there feeling like they've arrived at the playboy mansion. This is because it was written by a man who much like me, LOVED being dominated by big women. It was basically just him living out his wank fantasies. So basically by today's standards on the one hand it will be seen as divisive as no men are allowed, but on the other it will be seen as male gaze because, well it f*cking is! I honestly can't think of a worse subject to make a tv show about.

Don't really care. I want a 3rd Burton/Keaton Batman movie, and since I'm not getting it I don't give a f**k.

I agree with burrunjor about Paradise Island, it's going to raise the usual stink with Nerderotic, Clownfish, Ethan Van Sciver, and the other grifter poison, Amazon-centric events in DC have often been a disaster ("Bees my god") and I don't see it working out for a TV show.
The Authority I greatly enjoyed in it's original format, and the recent Superman version by Morrison and Phillip Kennedy Johnson was unique and enjoyable, when they were annouced I thought they would form part of the Superman movie, and maybe that's still the plan. I'd like Manchester Black and Jenny Sparks to be on the same team, a best of both worlds version. Midnighter will be there undoubtedly to tick the "gay Batman" box.
Damien's Robin is what's being focused on, but I loved Grant Morrison's Batman run so I have no issues with it. Morrison's run was dark, but also very subversive and quite campy, so maybe it'll be like the Schumacher movies, but more like the ones Joel wanted to tell if he got to make more.
Tom King is pretty loathed online by grifter internet, but I enjoyed Strange Adventures, Supergirl, and Human Target, plus he wrote the best ending to modern day Batman and Catwoman, so I have faith they can adapt his work well to the big screen.

I've come around to some of these ideas. I think Swamp Thing looks great, as I really like that character and it's directed by the guy who did Logan. Meanwhile from what Gunn has said about his Superman movie, it looks like it could be good as it will be based on the original comics, and be a bit more goofy, upbeat fun. Creature Commandos I may be alone in this, but I think it could be great. It's an intriguing premise and admittedly that is Gunn's strength, a misfit team of weirdo's and monsters.
I'm still not sold on Batman Brave and the Bold, but that's more to do with my dislike of Grant Morrison. It depends on how they do it. I also dislike Mark Millar but Logan was obviously great.
I stand by the Paradise island series being a turkey, and I still give 0 f*cks about Waller. Honestly whilst I get not wanting to just do the trinity again, they need to maybe pick better obscure characters to use. Deadman I always thought would make a great Crow type movie.

The only one that catches my attention is "Paradise Lost", but that's just because of the title and its namesake. Realistically, his slate should've been: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and others, not this two-bit rubbish.
