Wish he'd cast someone decent like Helen Skelton. If JNT made such a casting decision (re, McCall), he’d be crucified by all and sundry for stunt casting. When Davies does it, it’s presumably “fantastic” and “brilliant”. I’ve just realised that she already appeared fleetingly in Bad Wolf. Could we be getting a return to androids modelled on Reality TV figures?

It could be worse, Whoopi Goldberg was being rumoured the other week. Now casting that crazy old bitch would really be insulting to anyone with working brain cells.

It's now being speculated that the Bi-regeneration in "The Giggle" is the realization of another long-rumoured development with the franchise which pre-dates RTD taking over. I'm sure some here, including me, remember there were claims that the BBC were entering into an American partnership for funding and that they had plans to separate legacy branding from the co-production. At the time, we didn't know how it would be pulled off, but if that leak is true and Nctui is spun off of Tennant for the new series, that ought to do it. The 'legacy brand' would be it's own thing, presumably with more "14th" Tennant in comics, audios, books.

IE Ncuti is in the British show and Tennant's 14th Doctor will be in other things like animated series, comics etc. So basically to sum up. They are now officially splitting the Doctor into two separate characters. The final action to destroy him as a singular character. They are allowing an alternate version of Doctor Who to go ahead just like I always argued, but the Fitzroy Crowd are so greedy, and so possessive of this franchise, the alternate version has to follow their continuity, be with their doctors and probably be made by them or one of their friends negating the point of it? Yeah sounds about right to me.

I feel bad for Ncuti, the optics look lousy, like they have zero faith in passing the torch to him from the offset

Granted this Doctor splitting into two is just a rumour, and it's one that seems to pop up all the time. I remember Jodie having a rumour like that too. How valid would you say the source for it was?

It's the same source as the Christmas special leaks, which have been getting takedown notices from the BBC

I don't understand the point of it, tbh. The legacy brand is already its own thing, why do they need a separate version of Tennant for it? Sounds over complicated and nonsensical to me.

I see that the Scum newspaper (which I’m reticent to ever link on here) claims that she will be “playing a version of herself”. Could we be getting a return to androids modelled on Reality TV figures? Should the rag be believed (and it could be characteristically talking shit), it looks like the answer to my question is yes. One should expect this era to placate the lowest-common denominator more than ever before… “Yay! What a coup for the show! Fantastic! Brilliant! Spellbinding! Anyone who slags off reality TV is a snob!”

Davina's involvement has been known since the reddit leaks that also revealed Ncuti would be splintered off from Tennant, and several Youtube channels talking about those spoilers have been struck with copyright notices by the BBC.
Supposedly she hosts a version of "Long Lost Family" in the special to help out the new companion Ruby, and gets crushed by a Christmas tree, with The Doctor saving her at the end.
Whovian William Who (nice bloke) has two YT videos about the leaks that haven't been taken down yet though, so maybe watch them if you want some further details. Tharries wasn't so lucky.

Ah- I stand corrected! Well, corrected about what she’ll be playing. Not necessarily about the quality of the episodes…

I old enough that I remember rumours that Patrick Troughton would be returning to the role for a full season alongside Colins Doctor, which I thought would be pretty cool because we didn't get enough 2nd Doctor/6th Doctor interaction in "The Two Doctors" anyway.
Instead we got that shit "Trial Of A Time Lord" and Brian Blessed acting like a c*nt instead.
