Real shame.
Just to be clear I hated the second movie. It's honestly one of the worst superhero films ever made. Still the first one was good, Gal Gadot was lovable in the role and there is more they could have done with it. I'm not even that big a fan of Wonder Woman as a character. To me she is to Xena, what the Shadow is to Batman, the Beast from 200000 Fathoms is to Godzilla, Doctor Omega is to Doctor Who, IE the original one that you give credit for doing the idea first, but is kind of missing something, like the cool villains, edgier persona, better origin that its successor would have. Only difference is whilst they all overshadowed their predecessors as Wonder Woman's part of DC, she's kind of overshadowed the better version.
Still DC should have at least wrapped this version of the character's story up and given the Wonder Woman series a chance to redeem itself after that shitty sequel.
I hate to say it, but I think this is a sign of the backlash to woke politics being taken too far. The new heads of DC seem to be under the impression that ANYTHING with a woman in it must be crap and should be axed. Hence Batgirl being written off, and the head of the studio saying he wants to get the old fans back. That's great, but that doesn't mean get rid of ANYTHING starring a woman. Why does it have to be either "let's insult white men constantly and undermine any strong male character like Luke or the Doctor." Or "women just can't lead anything. Top Gun was great because it didn't have any women in it etc". Why do people have to be so stupid and tribal?
I knew this would happen. Been saying it for years. You keep producing these female and minority led movies that bomb, not because they are female or minority led, but because they shit on white men, gender and race bait, rewrite and undermine beloved characters just to crowbar in forced diversity, then eventually the shallow, out of touch twats who run the industry will just say "chick things don't sell." Granted we really should get rid of these types, but still the SJWs haven't done that, and they have now convinced them that female led things don't sell because of the awful, misandrist, bigoted way they made them. In short they have just set us back by about twenty years. Now ironically I'm going to have to argue that female led things can sell and be popular.
