According to RTD's latest production notes in DWM, Series14 will be eight episodes. Xmas specials are back, the 2023 one already written and 2024 confirmed. No more gap years. "Lots of other content". It's unclear if eight episodes will be the norm or not.

So from 2022-2024 Doctor Who will have produced, combined a grand total of 13 episodes?
Yep not in decline at all. Just switch off its life support already.

I do miss the days when we'd get thirteen episodes over the course of three months rather than a couple of years.

Too much work for the poor dears. Heard the other day it took 'em eight months to produce eight episodes of Wednesday. How? Why? They managed to churn out 20 odd eps of stuff like X Files and Buffy in the 90s and 2000s in the space of about 9-10 months, now it takes them this long? I don't get it. Honestly it just makes me lose interest in TV. Two year waits for a handful of eps. I'll just go back to my boxsets thanks...

Maybe they took the title too literally and only filmed the episodes on Wednesdays.

In all fairness to RTD after Chibnall's mess I think he had to fight tooth and claw to get that many episodes made in two years. Still if that is the state of the show, a rest is what is needed rather than member berries followed by the same old, same old, with the same production team, with the same mentality. A rest and a totally new approach is what is needed.

It's a fecking terrible model, as I said above. No wonder most of them are expensive flops.
