Don't have any strong feelings one way or another to be honest. I don't think casting a young companion is the best idea though.
Young companions are great in old who. When the Doctor can have a fatherly role to them, when they can come from alien worlds, but in the new who formula? The whole point is a companion that people can relate too, and too me an older companion is a better for that. I imagine a lot of RTD era fans feeling a bit depressed at the thought the new girl filling the role they once idolised was a baby when they first watched the show LOL.

I have to ask why wasn't the trans woman made the companion?

lol We know why. Virtue signalling doesn't appeal to the mainstrem.
I'm fine with this casting. Don't know her, but she's a hot young piece of totty and doesn't have a penis, which is the main requirement.

Mick Jagger must have sent the cease and desist for the character's original surname.

Simply casting a trans person in the role of the companion should not be seen as a virtue signalling. I'm not saying you HAVE to cast a trans woman as the companion to be clear, but still. The companion can be anything as they are not one character like the Doctor. I knew this was going to happen. I said to all those obnoxious c*nts on Gallifrey Base like Culfy that diverse casting can work, they just shouldn't rewrite characters like the Master, the Doctor to the point where they aren't those characters anymore to do it, and they shouldn't use their diverse characters to shit on white men all the time. I was told to go f*ck myself and that I was a racist piece of shit who is frightened of change. Well look where we are now as a result of ignoring me? We've had to degenerate the Doctor and the Doctor far from being a feminist icon, looks set to have a romance with his teenage blonde companion, who had to be cast because there is no way we could possibly have the trans woman full time LOL.

Gatwa seems like a decent bloke to be honest. He'll probably win over the public fairly quickly.

They do have a bit chemistry. I'm mildly intrested. I wish they'd kept on the lovely Mandip, though.

I love how she mentions the eras she grew up with, describes the Doctor as a handsome man, and mentions nothing of the Chinballs era.

Not having a go at him via the handsome man remark just to be clear. He has lots of fan girls too, I just meant that she literally didn't mention his era as one she grew up with.
