Is Rose the worst RTD character?

Rose is one of my least favourite companions. She's thoroughly unlikeable and clearly the jealous type. I understand she's supposed to be flawed, but her worse traits are a real turn off. They should have just made Lynda the companion for Series 2.


By the way, I like Billie Piper as a person and I don't think she's a bad actress.

I don't think so. Series 1 built up a lot of goodwill for Rose, and in series 2, her arrogance results in an appropriate comeuppance. The only real annoyance I have with the character is that when they brought her back in series 4, she'd somehow become a leather-toting badass who STILL hadn't learned her lesson. Although at least the Doctor did, and was fine with randomly dropping her back in the parallel universe.

Still, at least her jealousy and possessiveness came from a believable source (she very quickly went from leading an unremarkable life to a ridiculously remarkable one, and there's surely an element of her naturally clinging on to the Doctor as the one constant in a long series of insane adventures) as opposed to someone like Clara, who somehow manages to turn all the top quality lemonade into lemons with her whinging and superiority complex.
