The  JNT era is the best when it comes to drama and excitement.  Some of those are proper pulse pounding experiences for me.

An Unearthly Child, Daleks and Edge of Destruction are pretty solid for drama.

Dalek Invasion of Earth

Mission to the Unknown is pretty gripping given these none is safe, Master Plan for the same reason. Massacre is dramatic but also stone cold bleak.
