I agree with Caves, City of Death and Remembrance being in there. I don't know why Day of the Doctor is the best. The Five Doctors was a more fitting celebration of the program compared to the 50th. In fact, it felt more like an 8th anniversary special instead of a 50th. Genesis rated the highest classic story doesn't surprise me, but it does annoy me. Pyramids of Mars being so high also perplexes me. I'd throw Earthshock and Fenric in there instead of those two.

I do love Pyramids, but the real reason it gets a lot of love is because it's one of the classic stories that feels the most like New Who. Tom's "I walk in eternity" stuff became a virtual template for most of the Doctor's speeches in the 2000s and 2010s.

It was just post-anniversary euphoria for Day. No way would it rank that high again, though we may never know as they haven't dared do one since as they know everything Jodie would come dead last!

It was just post-anniversary euphoria for Day. No way would it rank that high again, though we may never know as they haven't dared do one since as they know everything Jodie would come dead last! It would certainly be a refreshing change not to see The Twin Dilemma at the bottom. I reckon they'd fiddle the results though to make Jodie's stories look more respectable. |
