Further attempts to destroy Gina Carano's career

We all know that these saddos got her fired in a classic example of modern day McCarthyism. However it seems they are going one step further than even Joseph McCarthy himself and are trying to blacklist Gina to the point where she cannot even go to a comic convention. They don't just want her acting career finished. They want to ruin her ability to make a living at all. 

Here is the article covering and supporting the boycott of a convention for having her. It's honestly terrifying how these people try and paint themselves as the good guys, whilst gleefully destroying someone's entire life.

If you can't be arsed reading it, here are some highlights. 

Of course, free speech is alive: Gina Carano is free to say any stupid thing that comes into her head. We all are. But Carano’s firing from The Mandalorian was evidence that our freedom of speech, precious as it is to the American spirit, does not and was not intended to extend to the personal repercussions of said speech.


Ah here we are. The usual argument of big companions should be allowed to bully, smear and fire their employee in anyway they want to. How tragic that it's the supposed left wingers spouting this Ayn Randian argument. 

PS I wouldn't be advocating that stupid people be fired if I was the writer of this article. 

It’s not as though just one more star were coming to join other “Star Wars legends.” You have to wonder what these legends — which include Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand), Carl Weathers (Greef Carga), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and even Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) — think about it. This is tantamount to your boss inviting that guy that HR fired for sexual harassment to the company picnic. It’s a bizarre move on FAN EXPO HQ’s part, one we had many questions about. We reached out several times to FAN EXPO HQ for comment, but have not received a reply.

WOW so called feminist trivializing sexual assault by comparing some tweets you disagree with to it. PS Carl Weathers wished her a happy birthday a few days ago, and Katee Sackhoff praised Gina. Maybe that's because they are not brain dead, ideological twits who think that posting things they dislike is the same as being sexually assaulted. 

the folks who used to run Denver’s annual fan fest — has a response. The same day that Carano’s appearance was announced, the organization took to social media to express its concerns. In part, it states that “Carano's past comments and actions are at direct odds with our organization's mission to celebrate diversity and build inclusive pop-culture spaces where all feel welcomed. We’ve expressed our opposition to the team at FAN EXPO Denver, and Carano will not be participating in any of Pop Culture Classroom's educational programs or activities during the event.

“We felt we needed to reassure longtime fans and supporters who may have felt alienated by the booking that Pop Culture Classroom will welcome and support them at the event,” explains Adam Kullberg, Pop Culture's interim executive director. “We’ve had internal discussions with FAN EXPO Denver. Moving forward, we’ll be working together to ensure PCC’s event activities offer a welcoming and inclusive space for kids, families and educators to learn and connect.”

Pity they don't support diversity of opinion. I'd also love for them to explain how her being there is against Diversity? What groups has she marginalized? Also again it's funny that these people who are so for female led films and tv shows are ruining a pioneering female athlete/actress! 

One of those in the vocal-opposition group is "Fan Meetups Ambassador" for FAN EXPO and the Chief Geek of the blog Geeked Colorado Julia Bilderback. Bilderback, who volunteers her time to help market FAN EXPO locally — on her own dime, no less — says that when she first saw the news of Carano's appearance, "it was gut-wrenching."

She must have had an easy life if that was gut wrenching. 

In response, Bilderback wrote a long post on her blog explaining exactly what lines Carano has crossed, and why she needs to be held accountable. "A lot of it is the conservative paradigm," Bilderback says. "People are trying to defend her, trying to say she didn't really do anything. But if you get fired from Disney and you didn't do anything, you could fight that." Since Carano isn't fighting it — and this is a former MMA fighter whose first instinct is to attack — that could imply that even she knows she can't directly defend her statements.


Um? She did a full hour and a half video defending her statements and has posted about it constantly on social media. Sadly however you just use those posts as proof of why no one should listen to her. 

Bilderback is no stranger to Denver conventions. "Originally, I volunteered for Pop Culture Con," she says. "To me, growing up in Colorado, the big con was Starfest. I remember when they got big names like Sean Astin, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, celebrities like that. I really hoped FAN EXPO could be even bigger. That it could be something for us middle states to be proud of."

So she was okay with Tom Cruise and John Travolta, two huge supporters of Scientology, a faux religion that has enslaved people around the world, but not Gina for making a few posts she doesn't like? Sean Astin also donated money to Hillary Clinton, a psychopath who supported the Iraq War, Libyan war and the Honduran coup. 

Seems to me that Carano is only a target because this moron thinks she can promote herself professionally by attacking her. 

Now, Bilderback is trying to effect change from the inside of FAN EXPO. She used one of her monthly Fan Ambassador events to protest the Carano appearance. And she's contacted a few other celebrity guests — Kevin Smith, Elijah Wood and George Takei — to see if they can throw some of their considerable star power around in order to make a difference. "I'm thinking about reaching out to Governor Polis," she adds, "to see if he'll weigh in on it."

The definition of a "I WANT TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER!" type. She's also insane and delusional if she thinks that any of these actors are going to risk a genuine backlash just to ruin someone else's career. Again though you can see how she is hoping that through this she can get in with these stars and make a name for herself. Sad that this parasite is happy to ruin someone else's career to further their own. 

Let's just hope comic con doesn't give in and that they pull in bigger numbers than ever before.

I know I shouldn't but I couldn't resist and I got into an argument with this vile Julia Bilderback woman. She was boasting about how the fight against Gina Carano is not over, and I said to her that the idea of her in a fight with Gina Carano would be hilarious, far more so than anything she has done. 

She actually wrote this on her facebook page. 

Here's an example of one of Gina's fans thinking that violence towards me is fine. I have reported this to Fan Expo and they continue to do nothing. Yesterday when I spoke to them they said that they do not condone what she does, but by bring her here and not enforcing their own harassment policy they are condoning her actions. Is Pop Culture Classroom just going to stand back while they allow threats of violence and hate to happen?

What a f*cking cowardly, piece of shit this woman is. In what way is that a threat? 

She also deleted a comment where I pointed out her hypocrisy in being a big fan of Travolta and Tom Cruise, who have far worse political opinions and how she was just doing this to launch her career. Hmmm funny that she deleted that comment.

This goes way beyond that and you know it. Cancel culture is modern day McCarthyism and if it can happen to a big millionaire like Gina Carano, it can easily happen to anyone else. 

I myself have lost jobs over voicing the wrong opinion. In fact a website I wrote for not only fired me, but destroyed the work I had spent days writing for them, for daring to say that Missy was crap. (Oh and on top of that the people who fired me hurled vicious abuse at me before hand telling me I was a unlikable, unpleasant and a disgusting scumbag.)

If you're an employee of a company, you represent that company. Disney/Lucasfilm obviously didn't see eye to eye with Carano's opinions. So they let her know about it. At which point, she had three options:

A) Not share all her thoughts online. Swallow the pride and go on making money.
B) Quit, if it really is a matter of personal integrity.
C) Defy her superiors and see what happens.

Well, we saw what happened.

Companies are pragmatic. They're not going to indulge the whims of every employee who feels the need to get on a podium and speechify on every single political thought that comes into their heads.

PS the very idea that Gina Carano's mild comments could tarnish the image of Disney is laughable. Let's see that would be Disney that was founded by a psychotic anti communist, rip off artist who it is believed supported the Nazis?

Disney who famously refused to let a grieving father put a picture of Spider-Man on his 3 year old child's grave because they couldn't hoodwink money out of him? Yeah I'm sure Gina posting her opinions on her own twitter feed is going to tarnish their lovely image. 

With this in mind Gina Carano was actually faced with three options. 

1/ Get bullied into silence and forced to go along with what the mob who had already threatened her said. 

2/ Leave and basically admit that she couldn't express her opinions, whilst Mark Hamill was allowed to tell a child to go force himself. 

3/ Defy them and get blacklisted. 

The very idea that she could somehow be in the wrong here over the evil, corrupt, money grubbing company who want to jump on the latest diversity fad is laughable and demonstrates above all else the hoops people will jump through for tribalism. If this were the 50s and a left wing actor had been silenced in a similar way, nobody on the left would have a problem with calling it the fascism and intolerance it is. The fact however that it's supposedly left wing people who have done this to Gina, means that lefties will actually try and defend the right of a big company to crush its employees and for a person to be made unemployable for the rest of their life (which is what this trying to get her kicked off of even going to conventions is.) 

It's sad, really sad and shows that tribalism trumps principles for most people.

First off, I'm not left wing. If I really had to define myself, it'd be centrist.

And secondly, the answer is yes. If companies don't want to hire Hamill, Capaldi or Tennant for these reasons, that's fine by me. Companies define their own policies, choose their customer base and most importantly, pick whoever they want to be their employee. Nobody is entitled to be hired. You choose where you want to go, make a case for yourself, and either they choose you or they don't. And if they choose you, then you're a part of that company and either go along with their policies or leave (unless you should eventually find yourself in a managerial position, able to dictate policy).

By that logic a company should be allowed to fire someone because they are gay, or have refused the bosses sexual advances or whatever. You absolutely have a right to hire who you want, but you cannot allow petty outside reasons or prejudices for getting in the way of choosing someone.

Furthermore if you have hired someone, you absolutely should not be allowed to just fire them on a whim. Being fired in any walk of life can be extremely serious, not just in what it does to the persons self esteem, but in their ability to get another gig too. Most people reading a CV will just think "well they were fired, must be a trouble maker." And not hire them based on that. Then the longer you go without work, the more hurdles you get. 

That's why there are things like laws and unions to protect workers from big companies. If they can just get away with firing people for petty reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of their work, we'll all end up being slaves to those in power to an even greater extent than now.

There is a great difference in being fired for being gay or refusing sexual advances, and in being fired for ignoring a warning received for your online activities going against the company's interests.

And as someone who's been fired more than once: in my experience, companies prefer to part ways quietly. It's less drama that way. They simply don't renew your contract. Publicly firing someone on the spot reflects poorly on the company, and thus costs them money. The only reason they would do it is if they feel that keeping you around for even a second longer costs more money. And that generally only happens to troublemakers who ignore direct warnings.

She was fired from a big show, smeared in the media by Lucasfilm as denigrating people based on their cultures and as an anti semite, dropped by her agency and smeared in such a way that no one would hire her except for the fringe group who share her beliefs. Added to that the people responsible for doing all of that are now trying to make her controversial enough to the point where she will be unable to even go to a convention. 

It wasn't through lack of trying on their part that she has still managed to claw any kind of career out of this. 

Also again you didn't answer my questions you really think that Gina Carano would cost Disney money and give them worse publicity than dear old Uncle Walt, or bullying grieving fathers? 

Plus whilst it might not be quite the same as firing someone for being gay, in the end it is firing someone for what they do outside of work, and is not reflective of her performance. And it is a double standard that other actors can post more extreme views and not even be pulled up for it. 

Why anyone would want to justify that line of thinking and defend a company like f*cking Disney in the process baffles me? PS people who try and make out that cancel culture isn't a thing often have it rebound on the. The best was Joss Whedon defending Anita Sarkeesian. Look at him now. Similarly I remember having a debate with Graham Linehan on twitter where he was supporting Mark Meechan being unfairly fined for making his dog do a Nazi salute (to wind up his girlfriend because she kept going on about how cute it was.) I said to him that the same thing would happen to him one day and he called me a gammon. 

Now look at him LOL. Cancel culture is a very real threat just as McCarthyism was.
