Only Fools and Horses - The Russians are Coming
Paranoid about an impending nuclear war, Del and Rodney decide to build and test out a bomb shelter as practice for the real thing.
This was very funny, but the best moment isn't even a joke. It's Granddad's famous speech about the first world war that really left an impression on me. It's quite a dark moment brilliantly delivered amonst the humour. It's also a reminder that you just sound like an idiot when you attempt to glorify war like Del did. Cracking stuff.

Only Fools and Horses - The Long Legs of the Law
Rodney starts dating a police woman and brings her back to the flat much to the distress of Del and Granddad. What a plonker!
Great start to the second series. Always a joy to watch Del completely lose it at Rodney.

Just finished the second episode in a a three part story of Ultraman Taro. The first episode reminds me a lot of Rodan, as it features a plague of giant insects, a volcanic eruption and the star of this story Birdon, the Volcano Bird Monster. Birdon is considered one of the toughest Showa era monsters. It takes down Ultraman Taro, the insect kaiju Kemjila and Ultraman Zoffy over the span of a three episode rampage. It also eats people and kills Kemjila in a pretty graphic way, pecking it’s body to pieces, getting green blood everywhere, then plucking out its eye and eating it. It’s beak can punch right through an Ultraman’s skin and it can breath fire, because why not. The fact it nests in an active Volcano is just cherry on top.

Red Dwarf - Future Echoes.
Rimmer and Lister start to see future events when the ship breaks the light barrier. Unfortunately, one of those events is Lister's "death"...
I'm a huge fan of Series 1 and 2 of Red Dwarf. The rest of the show is good, but I love the atmosphere and look of those early years. I've only seen them up to Series 8, but does anyone know (maybe Ian) if they ever tie up any of the stuff introduced in the Future Echoes/Stasis Leak episodes? I got really excited by the possible arcs when I first watched the show and was incredibly disappointed when Series 3 onwards just kind of ignored them.

No episode this week so rewatching last episodes battle. Nothing like a big kaiju brawl to help me relax.

Legends of Tomorrow season 7. Happy to say that this season is brilliant. Real improvement over season 6. Legends has been up and down throughout its run. First three series are amazing, series 4 was one of the worst seasons ever LOL, series 5 was great fun, 6 was mostly crap, and 7 has been a real return to form. This is the last season too, so at least it's gone out at its best like True Who, Angel, and the original Godzilla film series.
Thank god something from DC hasn't let me down. The last few years have been the worst in living memory from DC comics. From Batwahman, to Superman and Lois despite the hype being another boring soap, (though granted I've only seen the first few eps maybe it gets better?) to Doom Patrol going off the rails, to Crisis being an absolute disaster, to Arrow having a dismal ending, to Lucifer losing its grove, to the disaster that was WW 84, to Batgirl being cancelled, to Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot being fired, whilst Ezra Miller is being kept on! Needless to say DC has almost pissed me off the last few years as much as DW.
Finally though this is the DC that has been missing in action. It almost has me a bit hyped for Flash season 9, which will serve as the finale to the Arrowverse.
Overall the Arrowverse isn't anywhere near as bad as people say. I totally understand hardcore comics fans being pissed as a lot of the characters are in name only adaptations. Still as a thing in its own right, a lot of it is worth checking out.
If you have time try the following.
Flash, it's brilliant for seasons 1-5, but loses its way in 6 and 7. I haven't seen 8 or 9 yet. 6 and 7 are not offensively bad, but they are kind of boring and lacklustre.
Arrow, it's brilliant for its first two seasons. 3 is okay, 4 is atrocious, and 5, 6 and 7 are all brilliant. The first bit of 7 where he is in the prison is some of my fave Arrowverse work. Sadly however 8 is utter shit.
Legends s 1-3, fantastic, 4 abomination, 5 great fun, 6 boring, 7 brilliant ending.
Supergirl and Batwahman? Crap, at least from what I saw and I don't intend to see much else LOL.

It's deeply unlikely Miller is being kept on. They're just not cancelling him before the movie even comes out, as that would likely affect the box office.

Watched His Dark Materials last night and god is Pan a miserable unsympathetic and whiny c*nt. If Lyra could survive without him, I'd have wanted her to step on him.

Ever Decreasing Circles.
I love this show and how the surface quaintness masks a darker undercurrent of Richard Briers' character always being just on the brink of an emotional breakdown lol. In that sense it's surprisingly subversive.

Randall and Hopkirk Deceased the remake. I actually saw this first back in 2000, but I ignored it in later years for the original which I am a huge fan of. I was reminded to return to it however after a dream I had, or rather nightmare about one bit from the remake where a guy is pulled into hell. It really freaked me out as a young child LOL, and I guess stayed buried in my subconscious for years so after having that dream a few weeks ago, I decided to pick it up.
Must say it's a really good remake. Vic and Bob are a bit stiff as dramatic actors, but their chemistry and humour makes up for it. It gets by on the stories which truly are good old fashioned, obscenely over the top Avengers (Steed and Mrs Peel) fun with some unbelievable ham actors. David Tennant is a hammy psycho in the first episode and he is actually quite good. I've always said he is better suited to villains, like Kilgrave.
Tom Baker meanwhile predictably steals the show as Hopkirks mentor. One thing about the remake that separates it from the original is a greater focus on the supernatural aspects which I really like.
I actually told Charlie Higson on twitter about why I bought it and he responded joking that he has an app that can hack people's dreams to sell them content.
Overall one of the better reboots.

I recall liking it back in the day, thought Emilia Fox would have made a good Romana too. Season 1 is obscenely expensive on eBay from here though.

Midway thru season 2 of Watching. Really can't remember it aside from the leads. I never even saw the last two seasons as they weren't shown here, with me being left with the rather downer cliffhanger of the season 5 Xmas special of Malcolm marrying someone else! It's a lot of fun though, and Emma Wray really was very charming.
