Watch the Devil’s Hour on Prime.
Pretty good so far, and not what I expected.

That old dog. Hamminess is the key. Barbara Kellerman was also sexy as Jadis and oh dear god was she hammy! WHEEEEEERRRRREEEEEE DID YOU GET ALLLLLLLLLLL THEEESSSEEE THIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGGGGSSSSS!" I remember Darrow telling Big Finish that a nurse once said she used to have a poster of him on the wall, but had to get rid of it when she got married. Darrow chastised her for not keeping it and waiting until he was dead to sell it on eBay. Haha I also remember him boasting about having more fangirls in his audience than any of the actors to play the Doctor too. Other hams who have got the babes meanwhile include Robert Carlyle as Rumple, who had a HUGE female following, David Tennant and Matt Smith obviously and Spike from Buffy. Sexy hammy women meanwhile would include Alti from Xena, Servalan and the Evil Queen from Once Upon A Time. Overacting gets you more groupies than anything else.

It's just plain old charisma. Some people were born for the screen.

I agree with rushy. Too many modern actors are just bland and mumbling. Give me something I can't get every day in the real world, loves.

Wednesday. Middling on this so far. Feels a bit like a standard CW supernatural teen drama that someone had the bright idea of grafting The Addams Family onto to get it more attention than it would have otherwise. That being said, Jenna Ortega (the only "new" cast member of the godawful new Scream movie to make any impression on me at all) is spot on as Wednesday, a worthy successor to Christina Ricci, and is hot as f**k to boot. Her perky little blonde roommate is pretty damn cute too, and their burgeoning chalk and cheese friendship is a lot more fun and interesting than the 'plot' so far. I'm kind of hoping they'll get together at some point. Maybe in season 2? It is Netflix after all lol

Part 1 of the late 80s Jack the Ripper mini-series with Michael Caine. Classic stuff, and the Blu ray looks gorgeous. [br Didn't know Jane Seymour was in that. I was looking at pics of her in the Sinbad movie she was in and I eventually came across the JTR mini series and thought it had been mentioned on here before.

The Bill: New Management. Chief Insp. Cato is unimpressed by both his performance appraisal and a visit from a snot-nosed new Chief Inspector from another station complaining about one of his officers. It's ironic that Cato started as such a twat but as his leaving draws near you're sympathising with his frustration with nonsensical PC twattery and politics more and more. And his "If you ever pull a stunt like that at Sun Hill I'll personally bounce you round the car park" line to the other CI when he's expecting him to apologise is the stuff of legend. I remember me and my brother both collapsing into laughter at that scene. We quoted that line for many years to come.

I am enjoying On The Up at the moment, early 90s sit-com with Dennis Waterman, Sam Kelly and Joan Sims. Only vaguely remember the first season or so mainly for the cast and "just the one". It's very likeable though.

Watched the first episode of Primeval New World again for a long time.
I’d forgotten how good a start up this was, and that Conner actually appeared in quite a bit of it. The caste is pretty good and well set up, with the story having its own yet familiar feel.
I’d also forgotten that they had feathered Raptors which was a nice surprise.
Over all a good start and reminded me how gutted I was that this spin off never continued.

Colin Baker was in the 1979 ep of Give Us A Clue I saw last night. I nearly choked on my drink.

Was more in the Christmas spirit tonight so watched some Christmas stuff.
Merry Christmas, Mr.Bean:
Always a joy to watch this one even though it's quite short. Definitely the best episode of the entire show.
Hale and Pace Christmas Extravaganda:
The first Hale and Pace show originally broadcast during Christmas of 1986! All the sketches involving H&P are pretty good but unfortunately some of the material from other comedians fall a bit flat for me. I do enjoy the sketch where they only have three minutes to do the story of Cinderella on stage.
The Simpsons: Miracle on Evergreen Terrace:
One of the few episodes I really rate from Season 9. It's incredibly dark and mean spirited, but it kind of works. It isn't my favourite Simpsons Christmas episode, but it is a laugh.

Final few eps of the final season of Elementary. The final ep is a sweet summation of the series, but enjoyable as it is the real meat here is the penultimate eps as Holmes and Watson (and eventually the entire NYPD) face off with deranged billionaire tech mogul Odin Reichenbach (the brilliant James Frain), arguably the nastiest and most dangerous villain in the entire show. Cracking stuff.

Miami Vice.
I watched the Death and the Lady episode, the absolute best episode of the entire show. It also features a young Penelope Ann Miller who is such a cutie. I really want to watch The Shadow again now because she's gorgeous in that too. The episode itself is actually very dark and challenging, but it is filled with such wonderful neon noir imagery and superb songs from Depeche Mode. It's an atmospheric episode and perhaps one of the most engrossing 80s dramas.

Miami Vice - Leap of Faith
This episode is an obvious pilot for a spin off series (which sadly never happened) as 95% of it focuses on the Young Victims Unit rather than Vice. Crockett is only in the first five minutes or so. Think of it as a "Doctor-lite" episode or in this case a "Miami Vice-Lite" episode. I actually really liked this when I first watched it about three years ago and my feelings haven't really changed. What's strange about it is that it feels really 90s despite being made in 1989 and has more in common with 22 Jump Street than it does Miami Vice. The gorgeous Laura San Giacomo appears in an early role and the direction is actually really cool and striking. Lots of slow motion, zooms, freeze frames and things like that. Season 5 is relatively weaker than Season 4, but I think this, the finale and the Burnett episodes at the beginning of the season are real highlights of the show.

Miami Vice - Sons and Lovers
Really good end to Season 2, but it arguably has the biggest plot hole I've ever seen in a television show. Crockett kills the drug lord Calderone in Season 1, yet Calderone's son wants revenge on Tubbs because he believes Tubb killed him. You might think this is just a mistake on the son's part, but Tubbs never denies killing Calderone and neither does Crockett claim that he did it. No, the whole story simply accepts this weird retcon that Tubbs is really the killer despite the fact that they show a flashback sequence of Crockett unloading a machine gun into Calderone early in the episode. Even Tubbs' lover from that episode implies that Tubb killed him. It's all very strange and shows a bit of inconsistency with the writing. It's a very good drama though with some cracking songs by the likes of Peter Daltry and Phil Collins.
