Finished season 1 of Watching. Really enjoying this show. It's nice that it still stands up as a warm and funny comedy. Emma Wray was very cute in the day too. Have you ever seen this Maxil?

I believe I wanted to watch that when it was on BritBox. It looked very 80s as well. Is one of them from Liverpool?

Yeah, the girl. I picked up the boxset a month or so back after not having seen it for over thirty years. It's very charming and warm, think you'd probably like it.

It's very rare of me not to like a TV show from that period especially if it's British. I swear the main bloke is the guy that sits next to Rowan Atkinson in the exam episode of Mr.Bean.

Watching the Brittas Empire. LOVE this show. I used to watch it all the time when I was a child. Gordon Brittas is basically just Arnold Rimmer in terms of how anal and uptight he is, but I'd say he is less malicious than Rimmer, though hilariously far more incompetent.
I've honestly been howling at some of the stuff he's caused in just the first few episodes, from impaling his own workers, breaking their legs, nearly blowing up the building, electrocuting people, kidnapping babies, and drowning his customers! (Oh by the way the black woman whose baby he inadvertently kidnapped was none other than a young Jo Martin!)
I'd read that this show was a huge influence on I'm Alan Partridge and The Office and I can see that. Like David Brent, Gordon Brittas is deluded. He thinks he is a genius, beloved by everyone there, a friend to his employees who hate him and obsessed with petty, stupid management techniques, but his f*ck ups tend to be more cartoonish like Alan in that he has actually killed people!
The episode that I remember the most from my youth is the Ostrich LOL. I can't wait to get to that.
Apart from Brittas I'd say my fave two characters are Linda and the cute receptionist Carole. I remember the receptionist was one of the first people I ever fancied. Linda meanwhile is the spitting image of a girl I knew for years. She didn't just look like her though, she had a similar personality too! She was very sporty and very competitive. I think she liked noses like me as she'd always grab everyone around hers nose. She must have tweaked my nose about 12904786 times LOL. If she wasn't cute it would have been very annoying. Still I liked her a lot and so Linda is automatically one of my faves.

I watched Series 1 of that about three years ago and really enjoyed it. Chris Barrie is legendary.

You know what was funny though in the episode I saw last night? They used the same good samaritans joke from Red Dwarf about Mr Brittas, of how 4 people killed themselves after talking to him, including one who got the wrong number. The exact same joke with the exact same actor playing a fairly similar character LMAO.

Am marathonning season 2 of Pretty Little Liars. In retrospect there are some big hints dropped as to who the original A turns out to be, but even more impressive is the Halloween episode that has some major foreshadowing of later seasons. Even the scary story Alison tells the little kid she's babysitting, while not true in itself, contains some major thematic foreshadowing of massive revelations that won't come till season 6! I'm quite impressed by that.
There doesn't seem to be a DVD release yet of the new spin-off, Original Sins, which seems very slasher horror and seems to be getting good notices. I'm almost tempted to "buy" it via YT if they don't announce a date soon.

Hearing a lot of good things about Cobra Kai Season 5 from early reviews. I would have watched it all 48 hours from now. Doctor Who is my favourite show but this would easily be my second.

The Avengers: Never, Never Say Die. Really fun ep with Christopher Lee guest starring as a man who seemingly cannot die. Great stuff. Also watched ep 1 of series 1 of The Tripods, which I haven't seen for around three decades and was pretty good.

Watched the first three episodes of Season 5 of Cobra Kai.
*Spoilers*
This is a far more intense season where the kids take the back seat in favour of more focus on the legacy characters like Daniel, Chozen and of course Terry Silver. Mike Barnes also returns and the show completely fooled me into thinking he was going to be a bad guy again. Far from it, he's completely redeemed himself. At one point you actually feel really sorry for him, something I never thought I'd do. Terry Silver steals the show again as the Emperor of the piece. I wasn't as invested in the Mexico stuff with Miguel finding his dad, but the rest of it is awesome. It's too early to call it the best season of the show, but honestly if it keeps going the way it is it will easily be the best out of the lot.
9/10
I'll do an overview of the season when I get round to finishing it later on.

I've finished Season 5 of Cobra Kai.
Spoilers, again.
I'm still in absolute shock at that finale. I've never been so on edge watching a TV show before. It's so much better than NuWho's finales it's unreal. Everything from Kreese's fake death scene to the extremely bloody battle at Terry Silver's house. I had tears in my eyes when Johnny was being absolutely slaughtered by Silver's thugs. I do feel Terry Silver himself is the best character to come out of the Karate Kid/Cobra Kai saga. It's a shame his reign of terror is over now because him screwing everyone's lives up was one of the most sinister things in the series. Really nice to see Mike Barnes return for the finale as well although he does very little in the fight. Also loved seeing Robyn Lively back as Jessica! I gasped when I saw her return as I didn't expect her to come back. I'm kind of mixed on the idea of the show returning for Season 6. I thought this was an excellent finale and with Silver gone and everything quitting Cobra Kai I don't know what they will do now. All that's left now is Kreese being on the run from prison and the global karate tournament. I think they should end the show with Season 6 before it outstays it's welcome. Thankfully it hasn't done that yet. I think Season 5 is the best season of the show by a mile.
10/10
