In that eventuality it's still Tennant's fault, isn't it? The same misguided performance is consistent across three series. Was the director of The Idiot's Lantern secretly moonlighting for Tennant's entire tenure..? No, it's not. He can act in a multitude of different ways. If no one's telling him to change things up, why would he? Clearly it worked out for him. As a professional actor, he should be able to judge his own performance. The director is not solely responsible. Apart from that, you're conflating success with excellence, and there's an old saying about that one...

And he did. He felt it worked. So did lots of other people. Hell, it still works for me. I don't mind his performance at all.

*Lots of other people * think that Kanye West is a musician and Igor Stravinsky was in Frankenstein films. "If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing."

Well, subjectively, we all feel our opinion is the correct one. Otherwise, it wouldn't be our opinion.

Nah. Tennant's still objectively a good actor.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is subjectively mistaken. XD

Either they're too scared to interfere with a star In that eventuality it's still Tennant's fault, isn't it? The same misguided performance is consistent across three series. Was the director of The Idiot's Lantern secretly moonlighting for Tennant's entire tenure..? To be honest I think in this case it's RTD's fault. I remember him saying that he wanted DW to be as LOUD as possible, because he felt that was the only way to get the kids watching it. For some reason, he said that kids respond to loud tv and that most other tv on at that time was loud? That's why he insisted on having the music blare out at full volume and why the cast, not just Tennant sometimes like in Last of the Time Lords seem so f*cking hyper like they're on crack. MIIIIISSSSSS JOOOOOONNNNNEEEEEEESSSSS

I’d be willing to bet a grand that he said this…

I remember when Derek Jacobi appeared how he lifted the performances of those around him. Look how Tennant does the opposite here!

*Lots of other people * think that Kanye West is a musician and Igor Stravinsky was in Frankenstein films. Objectively, he is. And who the f*ck thinks Stravinsky was in Frankenstein? This is very true, but the same goes for one person saying a foolish thing. Minority does not implicate wisdom.

Hmmm. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that were a factor.... This is the same man who believes that kids can’t sit through monochrome TV. I’d be willing to bet a grand that he said this… Here is the quote. If you channel-hop on a Saturday night, you're up against the big Light Entertainment shows, like Ant (Anthony McPartlin) and Dec (Declan Donnelly), with a shiny black floor and a huge audience. With background music behind everything. They're phenomenally loud, those shows, and I believe that's what draws an audience. So we decided to make Doctor Who (2005) really noisy.
It was from his IMDB page. I also forgot about this quote that really pisses me off and shows how little respect he and the Fitzroy clique had for the original. I love the old Doctor Who (1963). But, even with all that love, you have to admit that the name of the programme had become a joke and its reputation had become a cheap joke at that - you know rubber monsters and shaky sets. And Chris (Christopher Eccleston), as one of the country's leading actors, by being willing to step up to the line and take on that part has proved himself to be magnificent and has turned it around. So now you get actors like David Tennant who is the next generation and just about one of the best actors in the world. David himself says he wouldn't have touched this part if Chris hadn't done it because the part had become a joke. But Chris has salvaged it and made it new.
f*ck you Russell. Curse of Fenric shits on anything you wrote and McCoy and Sophie for all the odd bit of funny angry acting from McCoy are much better than Eccelston or Rose in the entire first season.

Stories written by RTD and starring the show's saviour Eccleston in the top ten of the 2023 magazine poll: 0 Stories written in the McCoy era in the top ten of the 2023 magazine poll : 1 We've spoken I'm afraid. McCoy's best is better than Eccleston's best. Weep it up (or should that be Beep it up. Or maybe Meep it up?)
