Arguably the score I've mellowed to the most is Francis Chagrin's work on The Dalek Invasion Of Earth. When I first saw DIOE on VHS shortly after seeing the first Dalek tale. I found it to be a massive stepdown and somewhat generic incidental music following Tristram Cary's pioneering work for the former (Not to mention later hearing Dudley Simpson's work for Masterplan and Evil) but having re-watched it in December (And having mellowed to the story as a whole since). I've developed a newfound appreciation for it as an companion piece. Whereas Cary's transported to you to the hellish nightmare that was Skaro, Chagrin's conveys the hopelessness of the future war-torn Earth and the Daleks as an whole. It's also saddening that it's never had an proper release as there are many great pieces that are often forgotten (the percussive bongo chase music, the organ crescendo when the prisoners revolt and the highlight of the funereal piece that accompanies Susan's leaving without going into melodrama and mawkishness ala Murray Gold)
(My own attempt at creating an extended suite. It's patchy in areas and contains a bit of dialogue but it's serviceable)
