Here it is. t.co/SbUIjosFHRIs he having a dig at DW? Remember he is married to Ingrid Oliver (lucky bastard!) Who RTD basically dumped because he hated her and replaced with the rocket wheelchair girl LOL, whilst keeping on Kate, which could btw f*ck over Osgood in the audios too, if they decide to replace her there with Kate's new sidekick for more marketability. I mean yeah there will always probably be Osgood stories as Big Finish milk anything, but still she could lose her slot in the regular range or at least have to share it. I don't want to start anything here as for all I know he and Ingrid are fine with it. Hell maybe she didn't come back because she was doing something else. It's all just rumour that RTD hates Osgood (though the person who said it was right about everything else.) Meanwhile if Osman is right that the Beeb are facing troubles, then I fail to see how DW can be kept on. It is not paying it's way in viewers. The fiddled viewers may help RTD's ego, but in the real world, they don't mean much. Also even then the viewers are down in every respect, for an anniversary special, a Christmas special, the return of Tennant, and a new Doctor, they were counting the fiddled figures okay, and counting the overnights atrocious. On Disney plus it failed to chart meanwhile its viewers were so low for most of the episodes. Meanwhile the backlash is f*cking huge. Whole videos devoted to attacking the show, and btw the backlash has seeped its way into mainstream culture more than the praise like in The Windsors. The real world looks set to bite RTD on the arse soon.

Oh just to be clear RTD doesn't hate Ingrid Oliver who he has never even met, it's just the Osgood character he hates, though even then hate is perhaps too strong a word, he just doesn't like her as a character and wanted to replace her with his own, the girl with the rocket wheelchair who will be Kate's new companion going forward across most forms of media IF that guy was telling the truth. (Whilst he didn't say that Osgood was being written out of the audios, that guy DID say that RTD was going to take a more active role in Big Finish in terms of letting them know which series they should make, and which characters they are allowed to use and with this in mind it seems doubtful he wouldn't want Kate to star in an audio series with his new, diverse sidekick, so yeah bye bye Osgood possibly even from those.)
Just thought I'd make it clear in case anyone thought Ingrid was difficult to work with and she got a reputation for that LOL. I mean it's very unlikely any casting director is watching this thread, but you never know? Don't EVER underestimate how quickly misinformation can spread. (To be fair though if there was any bad blood between Ingrid and Russell, we'd know that it would come from him, but there isn't.)
If all these rumours are true meanwhile then yeah Osman could be making a sly dig of "it has to pay its weight" which any insider knows DW is seriously, seriously struggling to do. Maybe not, but it is quite funny that RTD may have inadvertently given Osman's wife a life boat from the sinking ship that is this franchise LOL.
I just don't see who (no pun intended) is going to pay for it? It's a catastrophic failure on Disney and they are already losing money, and the Beeb already axed it because it was too expensive to make and NOTHING has changed in terms of viewers. In fact I'd say they are worse now as post Jodie even Ten Inch can't get the viewers back. Unless Bad Wolf happens to have a couple of spare 100 million then yeah, bye, bye DW, see you in 15 years. I hope this time actual sci fi fans revive you.

It's a fluff article really but it's surprising to see an indentured BBC man say it how it is. I always got a good vibe from Osman to be fair, seems like a real one. And yeah it is rather paradoxical that the Doctor Who FX look better than ever while the BBC are haemorrhaging money. I don't think anyone cares about effects really. With Doctor Who for example the problem is rarely the special effects, but the editing, pacing and direction. These things don't require extra spending, just talent and skill. The effects can be bad (as they always are in DW) and people won't be turned off, so it's a really bizarre move that they've updated the visuals when it just makes it seem more clinical. And the f*cking post on that godawful camerawork makes it seem like every shot is CGI anyway. I've said this before but for some reason modern directors don't know how to let a shot sit and breathe; everything's always close up, claustrophobic, the background is always out of f*cking focus. The post-production on the skies is the worst of all, they look completely artificial. Dreadful shit. You can go on about the RTD era all you like but at least it was shot sensibly and was rarely muddied with post-production.

You can go on about the RTD era all you like but at least it was shot sensibly and was rarely muddied with post-production. Yeah Osman seems like a nice guy. Always liked him on Pointless. He first won me round when he got caught out as an unashamed Spice Girls fan too. I could relate. (It also kind of makes sense in hindsight now that he has married Ingrid Oliver, as Mel C kind of looks a bit like her. Especially her Peep Show character. That must be his type. I'd wager anything Sporty Spice was his favourite.) Meanwhile I agree about modern directors. I think a lot of it stems from honestly the fact that they've got nothing to work with anymore in regards to the monsters and even the ships because there is nothing there as it's all edited in with computers. Hell even the landscapes these days are. I much prefer skilled model work for spaceships like what we used to see in Red Dwarf. Of course don't get me wrong, I'm not going to go all Mathais from the Omega Man and be anti technology LOL. Sometimes CGI can be useful. I think people need to get into the mindset of some special effects are better for certain stories, rather than always go in on the CGI. I personally despise the new UNIT HQ. Not only is it a bland rip off of Marvel, but the thing people liked about UNIT HQ and this was something at least that they captured in New Who, is that it's a bit run down. It is like the ARC in Primeval, or even the Rocket Group in Quatermass. In America they have all these high tech pricks, and huge buildings and agents like the Matrix, where as in the UK we have a crappy, cheapo military base, staffed by some overweight, middle aged soldiers, an asthmatic dork, a bubby every girl and a guy in fancy clothes and they somehow manage to overcome the aliens LOL. All this fancy CGI marvel shit just doesn't feel right for UNIT.

What I find weird is that UNIT is supposed to be a top-secret organisation, but suddenly they have a massive skyscraper with their name plastered on the side. That anti-vax segment was embarrassing as well. Yeah, this massive corporation that was previously a top-secret government cell with ties to the extraterrestrial wants everyone to wear a hi-tech metal armband that modifies thoughts, yet the woman on the TV is the delusional and crazy one for being "anti-zeedex" or whatever. Davies is such a clumsy writer. I'm sure you've heard about the populist politician they're bringing in for the next series. Embarrassing stuff. Interestingly, Ingrid Oliver may have been put to one side due to her mother Jo Gideon, an MP for the Conservative Party, against whom Davies has practically incited genocide.

Of course that will be it for Ingrid, of course. God RTD is so petty. Again he could drop the pretense that he is in any way left wing. I'm still waiting for your episode on Assange, Rusty? Or Gaza? Ukraine? I mean don't get me wrong it's not like I think those would be good stories for DW, but if you're so desperate to show off your leftie credentials? He could even just do episodes that were metaphors for those issues, like The Mutants? Nope those issues look like too much real politics and would involve actual study and research, rather than the latest hot topic issues on social media. I did see that Anti Zeedex bit in a review of the episode and even there it was f*cking cringe personified. RTD just is that Film Actors Guild joke from Team America "As celebrities we have a moral duty to spout what we read in the newspapers as if it is our opinion." Meanwhile I have no idea who the populist politician that's going to be in it is? Do tell?

I can't even recall the last new BBC production I had the slightest inclination to check out. Nothing the corporation does nowadays interests me at all.
