What is it with Ace and her ability to make any female character she comes into contact with a lesbian? Mags, the gorgeous Chinese babe in Battlefield, the babe in the Happiness Patrol, Kara, and now Peri. The phrase even the girls want her was invented for Ace LOL.
In regards to the weird naked videos she did with Colin, that apparently was in the Stranger series, which makes it all the more weird considering that they were supposed to be DW stories, so yeah that was the Doctor getting off with Ace or a woman who looked like her. To be fair though Nicola Bryant also did a love scene with Colin in the Airzone Solution, where they were playing different characters. Colin became a babe magnet when he ditched the coat it seems LOL. I've not seen anything of the Stranger meanwhile, but I do know Sophie played a sentient planet that falls in love with the Doctor.
Here is the full info on The Stranger. I believe it was Nicholas Briggs that wrote the Sophie one. Even back then these guys were getting their claws into the show and pushing a lot of the same ideas like Doctor/Companion romances.
My favourite bit of 90s video material from DW meanwhile was one Sophie was in, where she played an astronaut from the future, who is abducted, alongside a Sontaran and Draconian by a Toymakeresque god like being that wants them to play games for its own amusement. They band together however, outwit the creature and then send each other home at the end of the first part, and you think it's a happy ending.
The second part however reveals the awful truth. The creature abducted them because they were all about to die horrible deaths and therefore taking them out of history wouldn't have impacted the timeline. The Sontaran goes back to the battlefield to die a pointless death, the Draconian is captured and executed, and Sophie is sent back to her ship that then crashes and is left to drift through space and we watch her slowly go mad, waiting for someone to rescue her as her food and water run out before she finally blows her brains out in despair!
I've only seen it once, and I might be misremembering some things, but I do remember the twist making quite an impact on me. Obviously it was done on the cheap, but still it was neat idea.
