He's moulding the character in his own image. He's been doing that since day one. Surprised he hasn't hired a Welsh actor for the Doctor. I'm not taking the piss out of this person. I learned my lesson when I shared those Missy/Jodie drawings. That was a supermely c*nty move of mine and I deserve for it to be brought up every time I try and act like the decent guy of fandom LOL. I'll take the piss out of them on your behalf lol

You can't be so dim as to realise why this comparison is fundamentally flawed? lol You can't be so dim to believe they actually GAF about fiddled figures? The overnights suck and the overnights are all that matters. If you think they're throwing millions of pounds away to get less than 5 million on a Saturday night in prime time you're as delusional as Davoes. They don't suck, they rank highly for that day's audience. It is laughable to compare absolute figures with those of 40 years ago.

But we can compare them to those of just 5 years ago, in which case these anniversary specials are doing a lot worse than some of the most bland, unremarkable Who episodes ever put to screen.

I don't see the point of caring about viewing figures. The barometer of a show's success is purely how much you enjoyed it.

Because it sends a message to the BBC that the British public aren't going to be duped by RTD again.

Iank is right lets take a look at GOOGLE/YOUTUBE SEARCH RESULTS and those results very little change in the interest of Doctor Who.

Here are the YT results this one probably is less accurate than the search results. There is no data from Dec 2016 to August 2017, and not data before Dec 2015. But according to the youtube results Doctor Who is as popular as it was in early 2022 Attachments:

Because it sends a message to the BBC that the British public aren't going to be duped by RTD again. If it does or doesn't, so what? Our lives are hardly going to change from it lol.

The British public have much more to worry about these days than their enjoyment of a kids show It's only a "kids show" when it suits. Bingo, it was never a kids show. It was always intended to be a family show. The kids show moniker came about through snobbery about sci fi from people like Stephen Fry, pure and simple. I'm not talking about Zarius but ironically some of the worst elitist snobby fans are the ones that insist it's just a kids show, don't take it too seriously, and are superior c*nts to fans that do like it as saddos. Philip Hinchcliff himself said he never made it as a kids show, and Jon Pertwee always said adults were the main audience. Moffat said it was a kids show, but he changed his opinions all the time, and he certainly didn't produce it as that, what with his drawn out psychopathic killings, dead being aware, penis jokes, sexualized Ninja babe, and Doctor killing himself. To be honest he probably went too far in terms of it being a family show! I might add things like kids show/family/adult show aren't as strict terms as people make out anyway. Obviously some are 100 percent that way. Tellytubbies is completely a kids show, a hard core porn series like Eurotrash LOL is an adults show, but most of the time these labels just refer to what you can get away with, and how long you have to tell a story. Even within those limitations however, writers can still end up gearing it towards multiple audiences. Take Batman TAS, Spider-Man TAS, Superman TAS, Justice League, Gargoyles, Camp Cretaceous etc. They are ALL kids shows, as they were made for the kiddies slot, weren't allowed to show people die (barring the odd exception) and obviously had a lot less time to tell a story, a 20 min cartoon. However the writers in all cases still made the stories and characters compelling, the performances were top notch, the animation gorgeous and distinctive etc, which allowed adults to enjoy them with their kids and even become fans. Also they still dealt with serious content, and did have people dying, but again it was in a tasteful way or at least a way that could get round the censors, like in Camp Cretaceous when a Dinosaur eats someone, we cut away and just see the others horrified reaction, or Demona turns someone to stone and smashes them so it's complete fantasy. All of these shows therefore are technically kids show, but are 100 percent written and performed as family shows. On the flip side however you have shows like Buffy, Xena and Angel which are all adult shows in terms of what they can get away with and they DO exploit that in certain episodes, with things like Xena being crucified, Alti stabbing a guy in sex, Willow flaying a guy, Spike torturing Angel etc. However most of the time those shows to be honest are still written as family shows. Yes people die on screen, but it's often in a fantastical way and there is still plenty of levity and humour, hence why Buffy, Angel, Xena all became hugely popular among little kids (though again their parents would have to monitor which episodes they could watch LOL.) Doctor Who meanwhile I'd say has always for the most part kept the balance of being a family in show in terms of what it can get away with, and in terms of how its written. Again it's only snobs who consider ALL sci fi and fantasy to be kiddie fare, and bad writers wanting to justify their sloppy lazy writing like farting aliens and a monster called a Pting, or having Jodie lecture us all that black people had it rough, but don't worry Bill Clinton gave Rosa Parks an award, that push the kids show narrative, though sadly a lot of fans have bought into it too (and again some use it to ironically be superior c*nts like "I don't care that much about a kids show unlike you saddos.")

Lol such bollocks, MrTARDIS. You'd flip your lid if Mary Seacole was played by a white woman. Yes, you are a snowflake. Dear Jeremy Vine I have 0 talent, likability, and I have 0 respect for DW or its fandom hence why am I a cheerleader for the egos of several producers driving it into the ground to get ahead, but I will do anything and I mean ANYTHING to even get a job on a shitty day time show that nobody watches I'm so starved for attention. Yours sincerely Mr TARDIS. (I would have put Cheers Mr Tardis but that has been taken by RTD's other kabana boy Jon Blum and I was worried he might sue me and I am currently being sued by about 15 different people for calling them pedos, animal abusers and holocaust deniers over a tv show.)

Doctor Who expert is something I wouldn't feel comfortable telling people these days. I can barely tell them I'm a fan without looking down at the floor in utter embarrassment and shame.

I actually feel more comfortable and less awkward telling people I support Queens Park Rangers. I didn't have this shame ten years ago, but now the new series has made it impossible for me to even admit to liking it in public. I went to a group where someone had a Cyberman pin on their coat, but I said naff all.
