I liked this trailer.
While the recasting of Tennant is an obvious apology and damage control move to soften the blow of the previous era, I didn't get any Force Awakens-esque type of vibes from that trailer. What I like is that these specials serve as both a sequel for the fans of the RTD era (me) while also serving as a great coming aboard for new comers who will learn about the Doctor vicariously through Donna's redeveloped memories of the Timelord.
Again, regarding the casting, I personally would have preferred they either just go directly into the Gatwa era OR, if we really must have a stop-over Doctor, cast a big name actor to play the role for the three specials. Hugh Grant would have been great.

I have a feeling the second special will be a cheap bottle episode which harkens back to "Midnight" with some unknown horror driving the story and just The Doctor and Donna reacting to it. And it in some way convinces Donna that travelling with The Doctor has 'stopped being fun' so they head back to Earth only to find the Toymaker has taken control.

My main issue is this looks more like a special from 2009 than 2023. Beep the Meep is fun, as is bringing back the Toymaker (quite like the shot of him as the giant puppeteer) but this is supposed to be the 60th anniversary and, as yet at least, I'm seeing nothing that gives that vibe. Maybe they're still hiding a lot. But I think it's time they gave a hint of reassurance these THREE specials are not just a Tennant era circlejerk, because otherwise this is blowing an anniversary even more badly than the last one did...

I get what you're saying but I would have been far more concerned if the trailer actually did reek of Anniversary vibes by way of key jangling. Again, I make comparisons to The Force Awakens; unlike that film, what I take from these specials is that RTD wants to both move the show forward while restoring the core elements of what made his tenure so much fun. The trailer had drama, humour, angst, and spectacle. I'm happy with that.

He can move forward next year. This is the 60th anniversary. It comes precisely once. If he can key jangle his own era (which, despite what he clearly thinks, not everyone is in love with) there is no excuse. This doesn't even seem like it's celebrating the modern show, let alone the original, just his little bit of it (and one season of it at that!) I can't even really excuse (including in Day) the lack of the surviving classic Doctors, given the most successful part of NuTrek was Picard season 3, where the average age of the cast was over 70, let alone McGann or Smith or Capaldi. I really, really hope this is not all we're getting, because it's not looking like an anniversary story so far.

It's unfortunate Fans seem to have blanked on Jodie's finale, which was only a year ago, it was a celebration of so many eras of the programme and included appearances from all the surviving classic Doctors as well as cameos from companions and tying up the storylines of Ace and Tegan, they seem to blank on an otherwise enjoyable story on the simple basis that it was Jodie and her era had tanked. That's a shame, as I feel the Centenary ticked all the boxes necccersary for a 60th. What do you think? I know you're opposed to Jodie's era and Doctor, but would it have been preferable for "The Power of the Doctor" to have been held off until 2023?

But the Meep DOES say, "Meep!Meep!" It's voiced by Mirum Maroyles who is a pain in the hole. Who's Mirum Maroyles? I couldn't care less if the Meep was voiced by Jimmy Savile, so long as it says "Meep! Meep!" Who gives a shit about the rest of this stuff like 60th anniversaries, Tennant, RTD etc etc? Only the Meep is important. The rest is rubbish.

I know you're opposed to Jodie's era and Doctor, but would it have been preferable for "The Power of the Doctor" to have been held off until 2023? I personally think that it was absolute drek. The Daleks/Cybermen/Master team up made 0 sense. I remember someone comparing it to the villains team up in the Batman lego movie and they're not wrong. Also I fail to see it as a celebration of so many eras of the programme and more trying to cash in after the absolute disaster of the Jodie era. And I'm sorry but NO, Jodie's Doctor being in it is not a minor thing (neither is Jo Martin's Doctor.) Both are symbolic of an attempt to replace the shows existing fanbase, of an attempt to rewrite William Hartnell's legacy, destroy the very foundations of the character and in Jodie's case nepo casting too. It's more I'll just cast my friend rather than, hey this Jon Pertwee bloke is a bit of an eccentric, or let's see what this Tom Baker guy can do. As soon as either Jodie or Jo are in it, it stops being proper DW and is a parody and if anything seeing those old faces just made me all the more bitter. I've waited decades to see Ian back in the show, and now when he is, it's with a f*cking parody Doctor like Jodie? It felt more like "hahahaha you'll have to acknowledge the Timeless Children and the gender change because we had Ian there acknowledging it." Well I say f*ck off Chibnall you don't get away with it that easily. Just because you tossed in a few member berries (in a further stunning display of your quite unique lack of imagination, IE having Sophie recreate a scene from 1988.) The doesn't change the fact you destroyed the very foundations of the character, pandered to the most toxic side of fandom like Dimmeh Looming (who the other day laughed at her starting the rumour Bowlestrek rapes dogs, saying he deserved it.) And dragged the show to its lowest point. Even the active sabotage of Michael Grade couldn't do what he did. Meanwhile unlike the others here I don't mind there being no classic Doctors in this as honestly, do you guys really want to see any more links between classic and new who in its current state? Yeah I totally get wanting to see them in the 50th, but since then the more they try and mix classic who and new who together the more it pisses me off. I say let RTD have his circle jerk, it just goes to show what a lot of people have always said that he just wanted a franchise to play about with, rather than DW. Only thing I'm pissed at is UNIT and no Osgood? WTF is wrong with them? She's one of the few things in the last ten years that has a sizable fanbase, yet they outright refuse to use her? Honestly starting to think it is just because of me LOL. Mind you I don't want to see her with NPH anyway. He really can f*ck off and his performance in that look absolute drek. Missy 2.0. I'm craaaaazzzzzy and a bit flirty type of villain. No thanks that was bad enough when you had a likable actor like Gomez, but not this c*nt. Also why the f*ck are they bringing back the Toymaker? Again RTD refused to bring back the Brig, refused to bring back the Rani on the grounds nobody knew them, yet is bringing back this one off villain from a wiped story? If you'd have said to me in the 90s, the revival of DW won't have the Brig, but it will have the Toymaker, the Macra and Mel, then I'd have thought you were joking. Then again if you'd said that it would also have the Brig as a Cyberman, the Doctor as President of the earth, the Master as a woman who wants to shag him, billions of pre Hartnell Doctors, and an actress dressed as a rodeo clown with the charisma of a cucumber playing the Doctor. I'd have said that's not even a funny joke.

The again, NuWho IS the spoof which makes "Curse of Fatal Death" and "Scream of the Shalka" look like bona fide continuations of the Classic Series.

There is no moving forward in this trailer. It's RTD celebrating the genius of RTD. He's learnt absolutely nothing. It's like if JNT had brought back Doctor Who in 2005 and the comeback trailer was just a load of people wearing Hawaiin shirts.

RTD is setting another black person up to be the sideshow. Remember Freema Agyman's "arc". The first proper black companion, and her whole season was about the previous white companion. Treated as a 2nd class Tardis companion, cause she wasn't the whitey before her.
It's happening again, except this time it's a Doctor getting the same treatment with his introduction to the part.

You know I like Billie Piper, but Freema Agyeman is not second best to ANYONE! It's utter blasphemy to suggest otherwise LOL.

It's not a judgement on Freema, it's a description of how RTD wrote her. A 2nd class companion in a season that was all about paying tribute to the white companion that had left.
