Just rewatched this brilliant show again haha. It was after reading about that sad story with April Walker.
Who would you guys say were the worst and nicest guests Basil had to deal with.
I think the nicest would have to be that Aussie girl who was really sweet and understanding (perhaps a bit too much.) And the posh guy that Basil thought was a hotel inspector. He seemed more patient with Basil's craziness and seemed to take some pity on him when he was having a mental breakdown LOL. Him trying to calm Basil down is still absolute comedy gold.
The nastiest would have to be Mrs Richards and Mr Hutchinson. I'd say Richards is worse than Hutchinson however. She's arrogant, entitled, rude and obnoxious. She is hilarious but she honestly drives you crazy when watching it back hahaha. Hutchinson seemed like a bit a letch to Polly and a up his own arse, but I can at least understand him beating up Basil as he did attack Hutchinson LOL.

The nicest guest: She was so sweet. I doubt she'd ever want to stay at the hotel again, though. The nastiest is that yank git in Waldorf Salad. Yes, Basil was a bit of an idiot that night, but that guy acted like an arrogant tosser even before the dinner scene. And I agree. Fawlty Towers is absolutely brilliant. Possibly the greatest sitcom next to Red Dwarf for me.

Yes, Basil was a bit of an idiot that night, but that guy acted like an arrogant tosser even before the dinner scene. And I agree. Fawlty Towers is absolutely brilliant. Possibly the greatest sitcom next to Red Dwarf for me. I'm a bit split on the American git. You're right he is an arrogant, nasty, bully in a lot of ways and an entitled shit too, but to be fair to him, he DID bribe Basil to keep the kitchen open (20 pounds back then was a reasonable amount of money, comparable to 100 today) and Basil cheated him out of it and insulted his intelligence. Meanwhile on top of that when he got his Waldorf Salad, he told Basil not to worry about it, and it was only when Basil insisted on keeping up that stupid charade and doing the silly chef's voice that he'd had enough. Even then he didn't even demand his 20 pounds back. He also arguably gave other guests who had been bullied and mistreated by Basil a chance to voice their concerns. You can say it was nasty of him to gang up on Basil, but to be fair Basil had brought it on himself with his ridiculous behavour that day like leaving the guests dinner at reception and being angry when they asked for the simplest things LOL. With Mrs Richards however Basil IMO is completely in the right all the time with her. You can tell how awful she is because Polly can't stand her just as much. Even Sybill who though just as awful a person in a different way to Basil is at least more cordial and pleasant with the guests, can't stand her and takes part in Basil's prank about her hearing LOL. Ironically Mrs Richards is my favourite for this reason. She is endlessly hilarious, but honestly, you want to throttle her.

I'm morbidly excited for Cleese's new sequel series with his daughter.
