RIP Mrs Warboys

Doreen Mantle, who appeared in numerous shows including SJA, but will always be best known as the annoying but longsuffering Mrs Warboys in One Foot in the Grave, has passed away at the grand old age of 97. Aww. 
Perhaps her most "suffering" moment was in Starbound, where she gets kidnapped and thrown in a sack by a drug dealer posing as a cop, thrown down a hill in said sack, and then humped by a dog.   Poor Mrs Warboys.

Awww she was by far my favourite character in One Foot In The Grave. Miss Warboys was a brilliantly well observed character. Again there are so many women like her. Not that that's a bad thing, but I think all of us have known these old women whether they are our granny's, or our neighbours, or even someone we work with whose about to retire, who despite being old and completely out of touch, and quite parochial are still so innocent and sweet and friendly. They often make the best friends actually.

My favourite moment was when she has a stomach ache and is in bed and her friends get some films to cheer her up and she says.

"Oh what's this film, Alien? It's a sci fi thing. I like sci fi like Mork and Mindy, it's all very silly, that'll make me feel better." Needless to say it has a rather different effect LMAO.

She'd had food poisoning. And Margaret then inadvertently gives her a crocodile egg for breakfast.
