Felt she deserved a thread of her own. Also might stop me bringing her up into a lot of other threads LOL.
Well what can I say that I haven't already said? She is absolutely amazing in every way. Stunningly beautiful, amazing actress and amazing singer.
She also by all accounts is really kind too. Look at how she helps Christina Applegate here. Christina played her daughter Kelly on MWC. Sadly Christina has MS and has had to retire from acting. She can still walk, but she needs help to do so, and also to stand and when her star on the walk of fame was being unveiled, Katey held her up.
Her best roles are Peggy Bundy from Married with Children, Leela from Futurama, and Gemma from Sons of Anarchy.
All couldn't be more different to each other. Peggy and Leela in particular I think are a brilliant contrast. Peggy is a brilliant subversion of the women are wiser trope. Normally in sitcoms women are always presented as the straight, serious character like Kochanski or Marge Simpson or the wife from One Foot in The Grave. Peggy however was by far and away the absolute worst person in the entire cast of Married with Children (which is saying something given how awful all the Bundy's were LOL.)
IMO this was an important step for women in comedy as it opened the door for other genuinely awful female protagonists like Elaine from Seinfeld and Sweet Dee from It's Always Sunny. I understand why previous shows didn't want to portray women in a negative way, as obviously it can look bad if a man writes a comedy going on about female neurosis LOL. Still the downside was obviously that women didn't get to play as outrageous or funny roles as men. Katey however I think played a role in changing that.
Leela meanwhile was a classic example of the women are wiser trope, but to me she was the best, as in Leela's case they didn't just make her boring and serious like the others. I think Leela really brought the heart to Futurama and allowed it too tug at the heart strings like in the Leela's homeworld episode or my personal favourite The Sting, where Leela thinks she has caused Fry's death and goes insane to the point where she tries to kill herself! Katey is sensational in that episode and you honestly never think of her as Peggy at all.
That's what you call range LOL.
