I'd say 1995. Die Hard with a Vengeance, Batman Forever (sorry, I love it), Toy Story, Clueless, Heat, Assassins, Se7en, Bad Boys, Jumanji, Mortal Kombat and so much more.

Probably the best movie Jim Carrey ever did.

1994 (Speed, Pulp Fiction, Leon to name but three) or 98. That's cheating, Zee.

1994: Clerks, The Professional, Shallow Grave, Dumb And Dumber and Shawshank Redemption.
1993 has my favorite film of the time in Falling Down but 94 has the most hits for me

I'm looking forward to seeing Falling Down even more now. It is crazy how many movies from the 1990s make IMDB's top 250. It's a shame that the 80s stuff doesn't fare as well on the site. I really recommend Michael Mann's "Heat" from 1995 which, despite being 2 hours and 40 odd minutes, was one of the best movie experiences I've ever had. Se7en came out that same year as well. I feel the 90s were far better than doing the gritty realism than today.

Yes. Though I recommend the theatrical cut over the directors one.

What Ian said. It's not my pick for Besson's best film (Fifth Element) but it's a close second.
Mind you, it has your old mate Eric Serra at the composer's chair so you might want to tread carefully. lol

Might want to check - my Blu has both though you have to dive into the menu to find the theatrical. Not sure what the point of the directors cut was - it's literally just scenes that basically repeat previous scenes and really slow down the pace. They were clearly cut for good reason.

You're right - it's the same with the UK version. I'm happy you get to make the choice yourself rather than be forced into watching one version like George Lucas does with the original Star Wars films on home media.

To be fair, I do enjoy Serra's more atmospheric themes from GoldenEye like this one: It's just his main love theme sounds quite bland and I really don't like tracks such as "Ladies First" which sounds like it belongs to a cheap 90s sex comedy rather than a Bond film. I've heard parts of his "Leon" score and I enjoy the latter part of "Noon" track very much.

Watched Leon this evening. Was completely blown away by it. Not only was the direction of an exceptionally high standard (every shot is so interesting), but the three main actors give absolutely superb performances. Natalie Portman, who I think is an incredible actress anyway, does a fantastic job in her first movie role. She seems a lot older than she actually is. Oldman also plays an unhinged DEA agent and is startlingly good in the role. I didn't really pick up on any of the "creepy" stuff involving Natalie and Jean Reno. She loved him, but I saw his affection for her as fatherly rather than a romantic relationship. The ending hit hard for me even though I had spoiled it for myself a few days ago (damn curiosity!). You know a movie is good when even Eric Serra is on the top of his game! I heard bits of "Experience of Love" at the end which suits this movie way more than GoldenEye. I would say it should have been the end song, but I really enjoy Sting's song.
Overall, an incredible film and probably the greatest movie of 1994 for me (Sorry Shawshank and Pulp Fiction fans).
10/10
