He's gay. That's all Russell needed to cast him LOL. It makes me a little bit queasy to ponder the "favours" they might have done for him to get on the show lol. On a more serious note, I have to respect Russell for not going the obvious route and actually trying to do something different with the whole musical thing. I am, of course, extraordinarily tentative about it all, and it looks like the toxicity from the SJW fans is only looking to ramp up. At least the Chibnall years were so anodyne that even the SJWs became rather apathetic and less acerbic as a result. I think this is the era of the show that'll become "impossible to criticise", as they say—and simultaneously, the era during which we might definitively be able to say that Doctor Who jumped the shark. |

Haha well I was more just saying that RTD is one of these people who is so tribal he will always have to surround himself with people who are like him. Not just gay, but Welsh people too. There are soooo many people like that. I'm not saying that it's exclusively a gay thing obviously. If RTD were Scottish he'd do the same and have nothing but Scots working on it, film it in Glasgow, if he were a Rangers fan he would have to have Rangers fans in DW, have the Doctor make comments about how shit Celtic are etc. I understand though that gay men however have had a bit of a history of being cliquey, simply because in the past that would have been the only way they could survive! RTD meanwhile I think as seen with the Welsh obsession goes beyond that and would have a similar cliquey mindset no matter what. |
