Jesus Christ I had Gallifrey Base flashbacks.
What happened was I made a comment on a radio times article on twitter about Missy being the worst Master and was bombarded by a dozen or so clowns saying she was the best of all time.
Honestly whilst I'm not saying all Missy fans are like this, as Claudia Boleyn is one, this really does show you the GB mentality of not only mobbing someone, but instantly resorting to accusations of being a sexist.
From now on I am never going to voice my opinions about Missy anywhere, even here, as honestly these types of arguments rot your soul. I've made my opinions about Missy clear, so i will never, EVER talk about it again. To think I ended up wasting ten mins of my life on this shit. Ten mins I'll never get back.
Honestly I despair. Isn't it funny though that the worst characters have the worst fans? I reckon if I were to say that I thought Glory was a shit villain on a Buffy forum, whilst some might disagree, there wouldn't be questions about my sexuality, love life etc.

Well until then I'd had a nice experience with it, chatting to people I like on both sides, but honestly this just goes to show you that Missy's fanbase is so toxic, you can't even voice one critique of her without a mob of morons descending on you. I guess I'll have to accept that having a female character whose entire motivation is wanting the male heroes dick is the most empowering way to write women from now on. |

I guess part of the appeal is that she showed signs of wanting to be a nicer person, but John Simm already did that, and I feel like Russell built up to that a lot more naturally by having the context of them being up against the evil Time Lords + the Master being tormented by the drums and having a broken body. It made sense for him to be introspective and wonder if it was all worth it when he was a literal wretch surrounded by enemies.
In the Moffat era, Missy is on top of the world so why is she so needy for his acceptance all of a sudden?
Before the s10 finale, you could have argued that Simm's performance sort of ties into her attitude, but then Moffat wrote Simm to be the generic evil Master so her behaviour is this weird outlier before Dhawan does more generic evil Master shit.

WOW how's that for things. I just ended up having a discussion with Omie of all people on twitter that was civil, respectful and interesting. He even apologised for getting me banned from GB!
Just goes to show you how you can never tell. I'm sure all of the people involved in this twitter thread with me, outside of it are all nice people and intelligent, but sadly it seems the political nature of Missy raises tempers and tensions too much to the point where everybody looks stupid. Hell I can maybe be accused of this too. (I do regret when I used to say no DW fan can be a Missy fan. That was Mr Tardis level of gatekeeping.)
I'm still not going to talk about this character again though as again the politics of it, leads to nothing but grief. I guess I just felt a need to say how shit Missy is, because of how they were rewriting the Master in other media. I was worried that the original would be lost and that if anyone were to have a proper Master, they'd get accused of not doing it properly. I remember one guy complaining about the Master and the Doctor not being friends in Five Doctors, saying that the writer of this story just didn't get their relationship like Moffat did. That writer was f*cking Terrance Dicks the guy who co-created the character, cast Delgado and script edited all of Delgado's stories!
Still given the state the series is in I suppose the Master is the least of our troubles, considering the Doctor himself is no longer the same character.

I mean fair enough you can draw as many conclusions about a character and a story as you want, but when you start injecting those into the story to the point where the character loses his or her identity that's when it becomes a problem. Then again a problem with DW is that it has to link all of its different versions together. Now this wasn't a problem with Classic Who as we only reached 7 different versions, but for a sequel that was always going to be a problem, but I still say they could have done it until they reached 13, and then rebooted it after that, wherein in their reboot they could have done anything they wanted. Made the Master in that his lover, his friend, whatever. They jumped too fast however and now with New Who established as being the same show as the original by so many, it's just made the whole thing a convoluted mess. Still like I said all of these people do care about it and well here's hoping one day we do get a more faithful sequel, even if it's just a fan thing on youtube or an animated series. I'd love that. We could maybe still get Tim Curry in an animated series. I hear he is doing better after his stroke and can talk more properly even if he sadly is still in a wheelchair. I'm just annoyed I'll never get Paul Darrow as the Master opposite Tim Curry as the Doctor. That would have been a laugh of ham acting. I will say that I think that the original 7 will always be a thing on its own to some extent as Classic Who no matter how many sequels are made is still its own work. 7 seems to be a magic number, and I like the idea of there being 7, like Blake's 7, Magnificent 7, 7 Samurai, 7 faces of Doctor Lau, even 7 skeletons in Ray Harryhausen's work. |

Not a fan of Harry Potter I'm afraid LOL, but that's another one. Of course some of this is deliberate, like Harryhausen who said that 7 pops up throughout all of mythology as magic, but the Doctors is quite a nice coincidence. |

I created an account a few months ago when the mainstream media smear campaign against Elon was at its peak, but haven't felt motivated to engage. I'm glad for the sake of democracy that it's now being moderated in a fair and impartial way, but it's as much of a toxic shithole as it ever was. |

Nothing wrong with that mate. If you get joy from the character great. I dislike her less then I do Riversong, who was kind of the next step of pisstaking befor we got Clara, Missy and eventually Jodie. |
