Rating the Troughton stories

The Troughton era appeal lies in two things: the acting and the direction. Its stories are notoriously repetitive and shallow, but Troughton, Hines and Watling/Padbury are so much fun to watch and the serials themselves executed with such verve that the era becomes better than it arguably deserves to be.

The Troughton era is one of my faves, though while some of the animations have propelled some stories into my faves list (Power, Fury) others have I suspect not done the originals any favours (Faceless, Evil, Snowmen). That being said I'm a big fan of the era, with a truly great Doctor and memorable companions (not the least is sexy little Zoe).
