Does anyone really care? I love football and the world cup, but even I'm struggling to get enthusiastic about this. I like how all these presenters are moaning about the decision to hold it in the country (which I echo) but are quite happy to get paid covering it. I won't boycott it myself although I don't think I'll watch a lot of it. Obviously the England games but then that will probably be only three or four anyway.

I'm not that big a sports guy, but I will not be watching as I don't believe that a country like Qatar should be allowed to host the World Cup given its treatment of homosexuals. I'd never EVER judge someone from that country as a homophobe automatically, or ban someone from that country from taking part in anything, and I'm not even saying that I wouldn't let Qatar compete. However letting it host is another matter. How are any LGBT players supposed to play in the world cup in that instance? It's dragging us down to that country's level by letting it host, IE we have to mind our Ps and Qs about LGBT rights when we're there.
I do not condone it.

Apparently we should all stop "virtue signalling" and respect Qatar's laws and culture. If you happen to get barred from watching matches because you're wearing a rainbow hat then boo hoo!
I swear, people just do not understand the issues here. It's always the same "you're just being a snowflake" crap. It isn't about that. People have died, being gay is illegal, women can't do anything without a man's permission and the whole World Cup was bought and paid for. It's plain old corruption and it's rotten to the core.

Couldn't agree more. It makes me sick to see people say "we have to respect other people's cultures and beliefs." f*ck right off. Did we have to respect Nazi Germany? That was a culture?
I have more respect for a dog turd than I do for Qatar. I'd say it should get into the 21st century but its not fit to be part of the 15th century. Their country is a pathetic, cess pit of homophobia, violent misogyny and religious prejudice and I wouldn't put a snail in the country never mind a football tournament. Not only should people wear LGBT armbands, booze should be handed out, men should kiss each other and women should run around topless (though admittedly that one is more for me LOL) Whilst munching on hamburgers and showing off drawings of Muhammad in a Frankie says relax T-Shirt.
Or better yet NOT go there! Again I am not saying that every person from Qatar is like this btw. Obviously there will be plenty of people who disagree with their vile culture. I mean hey I think the same about America. As a country it is the greatest evil imperial power in the world and its culture is vile. It promotes everyman for himself, mixed in with sadistic bullying, all of which is marketed as "the American dream". Quite frankly America is a failure for its own population never mind on a global scale, from its money wasted on war mongering, to its widespread poverty, violent racial tensions, crooked two party political system, to its disgusting private healthcare. Again I wouldn't put a snail in that shit hole of a place.
Still that doesn't mean I hate every American LOL. Hell I sympathise with most Americans having to work about three jobs and still not having money to pay for healthcare.
Also don't even get me started on my own country, Britain. Let's just say any country that condemns and almost bullies Katie Waissel to suicide for not being likable, but forgives Matt Hancock for being a lovable lad in the Jungle after he you know ruined people's lives, stopped them from seeing their dying loved ones whilst he was involved in the sleaziest affair, well I think that says it all.

Only thing I have to say about this World Cup is that Alex Scott is absolutely f*cking gorgeous! She reminds me a bit of Freema Agyeman.
I will say though I'm a bit torn about her wearing the armband? Obviously I don't give a rats ass about her offending Qatar. Like I said before people should offend them even more than that.
Still some people have seen it as a cynical bit of self publicity on her part that won't accomplish much? I can see why they'd say that, but at the same time had she just not gone, someone else would have replaced her and there might not have been any kind of protest. Maybe by doing this she did make it more of a big deal?
Or maybe I'm letting her off because I was lost in her perfect eyes that you'd notice from across the street?
